America is complicated

In August 1765, Andrew Oliver, Massachusetts administrator of the Stamp Act, had his home and offices ransacked by angry Bostonian members of what became the Sons of Liberty. The British did little to protect him, and he had to compromise because he was outnumbered.

There are laws on the books today prohibiting intimidation of Supreme Court judges, but US federal authorities, controlled by Democrats, are doing little to stop protesters in front of Judge Kavanaugh's house.

Instead of complaining about it, maybe conservatives need to get in their face instead of acting like indignant but effete Loyalists.

It's all about having the numbers, and having the will to act. Otherwise, the law is an ass.

Did Billy Cunningham discuss Trump's immigration cave last night?

If he did I must have missed it. It wasn't in the first hour.

Expect nothing but spin from conservative talk radio on this, if they talk about it at all.

Everywhere I turn it's the bleating sheeple of MAGA, even as the Trumpster has been completely co-opted by the Swamp, on Obamacare, taxes and spending, and now immigration, his so-called priority issue.

Simply voting Republican will not do under these circumstances. Elected Republican officials either go along to get along, or they do the right thing and stop spending us blind. You can only vote for individuals who do the latter and call yourself a true born son of liberty.

The direct result of spending money we do not have is an exploding debt which must be serviced. To get away with this they must continue to suppress the natural rate of interest to keep the payments on the debt from exploding and tying our hands on the annual budget, crowding out spending on legitimate items. That's already happening, as interest payments soared to $523 billion in fiscal 2018, up 14% from 2017. The consequence of that reverberates throughout the economy, making it unattractive for anyone to lend, and that means poor economic growth with the knock-on effect of the fixed income side in every portfolio returning less and less to retirement portfolios, pension funds, insurance companies, lotteries, you name it.

In other words, more of the same shitty Obama economy we elected Trump to fix. It ain't happening.

You can put lipstick on this pig all you want. I ain't askin' her to dance.

Dramatic video shows what a parasite-ridden North Korean soldier did to achieve his freedom in the West

Thank God South Korea remains a bastion of freedom, thanks to the freedom-loving people of these United States.

Another True Born Son of Liberty is born.

Video here.

From the story:

While treating the [gunshot] wounds, surgeons removed dozens of parasites from the soldier’s ruptured small intestine, including presumed roundworms that were as long as 27 centimetres, which may reflect poor nutrition and health in North Korea’s military. The soldier is 5 feet, 7 inches tall but weighs just 9.4 stone.

Nat Hentoff, who called Obama the most un-American president we have ever had, has died at 91

Despite Obamacare, or because of it? The obit here doesn't tell us. WaPo reports it was natural causes.

Neither story tells us how Hentoff really felt about Obama. Neither does his Wikipedia entry. For a sampling, follow my label "Nat Hentoff" below.

He was a true born son of liberty. May he rest in peace.

The answer: CHUMPS

Hillary, here.

Trump has captured the real American spirit, the spirit of the true born sons of liberty who dumped the cheaper taxed tea into Boston harbor.

Patrick J. Buchanan: Trump is rising because he's repudiating the Bush clan's anti-conservative policies

Patrick J. Buchanan, here:

“In the GOP nomination race, the chickens of a quarter century of Bush Republicanism have come home to roost,” Buchanan told Breitbart. “Trump’s triumphs to date are due to his recognition of, and identification with, the Middle American revolt against Bush family ideology and policy, and what it has produced.” ... “After the judges and tax cuts, what is there about Bush that is conservative? His foreign policy is Wilsonian. His trade policy is pure FDR. His spending is LBJ all the way. His amnesty for illegals is Teddy Kennedy’s policy… In smearing as nativists, protectionists and isolationists those who wish to stop the invasion, halt the export of factories and jobs to Asia, and stop the unnecessary wars, Bush is attacking the last true conservatives in his party.”

The True Born Sons of Liberty called on Republicans to repudiate the Bushes in July 2011 here:

A Credible Republican Candidate For President in 2012 . . . will be first and foremost the one who forthrightly repudiates the legacy of George W. Bush.

Newspeak from the Orwellian president: Ending ObamaCare would punish millions with higher costs of care

Oldspeak from the true born sons of liberty: ObamaCare has already punished millions with higher costs of care, when they can find it.

A pretty good litany of the grievances so far, with 21 months to go

From Michael Goodwin, here:

'First he comes for the banks and health care, uses the IRS to go after critics, politicizes the Justice Department, spies on journalists, tries to curb religious freedom, slashes the military, throws open the borders, doubles the debt and nationalizes the Internet.

'He lies to the public, ignores the Constitution, inflames race relations and urges Latinos to punish Republican “enemies.” He abandons our allies, appeases tyrants, coddles adversaries and uses the Crusades as an excuse for inaction as Islamist terrorists slaughter their way across the Mideast.'

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nothing much in there, though, about the housing catastrophe, the jobs debacle, the worst economic growth in the post-war, loss of travel freedoms, the capture of the two political parties by big business, and spying on the public in general, but hey, no one's perfect.

Did Steve of the Steve Gruber Show ever pay attention to the guy he just helped reelect?

You know the guy: Rep. Tim Walberg, who said the middle class in this country was getting crushed?

You know Tim Walberg, the same guy Gruber had on his show like clockwork during election season, campaigning for free, who just got reelected and promptly voted for Cromnibus?

And you know the Gruber, the one who recently agreed with his buddy Liberal Lee that the middle class in this country was quite intact, and spoke out against Cromnibus?

They must be smokin' the really special ganja on the set of the Steve Gruber Show, you know what I mean man?

Steve Gruber Show grudgingly admits middle class needs rescuing

Hm, imagine that.

Here, in "Fracking Rescuing Middle Class", concluding:

"Hats off to fracking and the American energy revolution that is riding in to save the economy and the American middle class!"

Ironman Arrives At The Same Conclusion Reached By The True Born Sons Of Liberty

TARP is fascism
At Real Clear Markets, here:

The United States would appear to be well on its way to adopting fascist Italy's political-economic system, favoring the politically-connected while starving entrepreneurs out of the economy. Although today in America, we call it "crony capitalism". And the people who practice it "progressives".

Do you think we should start calling it what it really is?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

This blog was born of the observation here in 2009, and I think first used the term in the specifically financial sense involving not just banking, but housing, a year later, here. Since those days, however, we've decided England invented fascism long before Mussolini did and founded America on the principle, but the English undoubtedly got it from the great old Roman idea of the patron-client relationship.

You Think This Is Hot. It's Hotter Where We're Goin' . . . In A Hand Basket

The first use recorded in the Oxford English Dictionary of the phrase, to hell in a hand basket, was in The Great North-Western Conspiracy in All Its Startling Details, an account by I. Windslow Ayer of events surrounding the Camp Douglas Conspiracy. Ayer alleges that, at an August meeting of the Order of the Sons of Liberty, the Judge Morris noted above said: "Thousands of our best men were prisoners in Camp Douglas, and if once at liberty would ‘send abolitionists to hell in a hand basket.'"

Our emancipators are and were always slaves.

The So-Called Conservatives Invented ObamaCare

So says James Taranto in so many words, quoted here in Forbes last October:

“Whatever the particular differences, the Heritage mandate [dating back as far as 1989] was indistinguishable in principle from the ObamaCare one. In both cases, the federal government would force individuals to purchase a product from a private company—something that Congress has never done before. ...  [I]t seems to us that the [subsequent Heritage Foundation] brief [against ObamaCare] overstates the extent to which the proposed Heritage mandate was ‘limited' [i.e. to catastrophic coverage]. But it is clear that Heritage has repudiated the idea of an individual mandate… All these years later, it pleases us that our erstwhile employer has come around. ... [I]t worries us that Mitt Romney, who may well be the next president, lacked the instinct to be offended by the idea when it crossed his desk in Boston. ... [T]he next time a think tank or a blue-ribbon commission comes up with an idea this bad, can we trust President Romney to reject it?"

The Heritage Foundation has ingloriously flipped on the issue of the healthcare mandate. It should have more vigorously vetted its origins instead of grasping at straws against HillaryCare.

Lick finger, check wind, go with The Tea Party.

To some, this is enough. But not for the true born sons of liberty.

The Fed Still Refuses to Document for the GAO the Exigent Circumstances Justifying Loans to Non-Primary Dealers

See the story here.

We're talkin' affiliates of Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Citigroup.

None dare call it fascism.

The True Born Sons of Liberty want The Fed to end.

Liberty or Slavery? Which Will It Be?

"And whenever their constituents neglect to call [their representatives] to account for such their neglect and breach of trust, they are not worthy the name of the SONS OF LIBERTY, the name of slave is more suitable, for slaves they really are, and are fit for nothing else."

-- A Countryman, 1765
