Yes indeed, Americans want illegals deported, and Trump is spending billions upon billions trying to do just that, but even apart from the resistance being encountered in Democrat-controlled cities, the numbers just don't add up in all the places York says Trump is succeeding.

 

Byron says there are nine million new illegals because of Joe Biden. Trump has deported 600,000 so far, and is likely to be lucky to wind up deporting just 2.4 million. The vast majority of them will still be here when Trump is long gone.

 

Clearly the policy is ineffective, on top of being brutal, unjust, murderous, and a huge waste of money.

 

Trump is ominously expanding the federal infrastructure of a tyrannical police state which a future president might find all too tempting to use to impose gun confiscation, for example. He keeps demanding local cooperation with federal enforcement, which the courts have said violates the Bill of Rights. This impulse is authoritarian, not American. 

 

Trump should have spent what little political capital he won in 2024 by pushing a legislative solution to immigration which placed severe penalties and jail time on persons and companies who hire illegal aliens, and by imposing strict federal regulation against social spending on, and social privileges like drivers licenses for, illegal aliens.

 

Mitt Romney was right that we have to turn off the magnets which attract illegal immigration. Rounding them up one by one is a fool's errand.

Local authorities don't have to cooperate on immigration, or on anything else.

Based on Supreme Court precedents like Printz v. United States (1997), courts have held that the federal government cannot command state or local officials to administer or enforce federal regulatory programs, including immigration enforcement.

The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals has the blood of Alex Jeffrey Pretti on its hands, because just last Wednesday it lifted a restraining order on ICE from using pepper spray on him and the woman he was protecting

 ICE in Minnesota: Court suspends order that restricted ICE agent tactics against protesters

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - A court struck down a judge's order that said federal agents cannot detain or use force against peaceful protesters after lawyers for the federal government said the ruling made it more difficult for officers to defend themselves.

The injunction, issued on Friday, Jan. 16, also banned agents from stopping or detaining drivers and passengers in vehicles who are following agents from a safe distance. 

The 8th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the federal government on Wednesday, Jan. 21, striking down the previous injunction.

The restraining order previously banned federal agents from using tear gas and other forms of force against peaceful protesters. It also restricted them from detaining people who follow or observe them from a safe distance without obstructing operations. ...

ICE agents have been seen deploying chemical agents such as tear gas and pepper spray against crowds in the Twin Cities as recently as Wednesday....

... The independent autopsy found there were three clear gunshots on Good's body, one to her left forearm, another through her right breast and one that entered the left side of her head near the temple. That bullet exited on the other side. ...

Why shouldn't they "show no quarter" to anyone else after all that, since no one is doing anything about it?

J. D. Vance falsely claimed on Jan 8 that Renee Good obstructed the ICE operation, but the ICE vehicles weren't there when she arrived, only arriving later to box her in, one to her left, and Ross to her right

Ross left the door to his vehicle, to the right of Good, wide open when he exited to start taking video around her vehicle. 

When Good decided to flee, she had to avoid that open door, which meant aiming straight ahead before her hard turn to the right. It's why she had to back up first.

The ICE vehicles used a blocking tactic to obstruct Renee Good's vehicle. She partially obstructed traffic when she arrived, but the video shows vehicles were able to get around her on either side, which is how Ross got his vehicle around her in the first place.

ICE could have simply left the scene, leaving her sitting in the middle of the road. 

ICE did not arrive to diffuse this situation, but to escalate it.

It was premeditated.
