My candidate in the Michigan GOP presidential primary finished in the top 1.2% of the field lol

Yes, I'm well aware he dropped out and endorsed Trump.

Turn out was pretty pathetic in Michigan, despite mail-in voting and early in person voting up to 29 days in advance.

Combined turnout for the two parties was less than 23% of the 8.275 million registered voters.

The Hamas vote racked up a big protest vote against Joe Biden of more than 100k.

Uncommitted Republican votes of 33k+ must be the small L libertarians? Social conservatives could vote happily for Ron DeSantis.

Meanwhile Nikki Haley attracted 293k of the AWFLs, most of whom were Democrat voters.

The primary is well nigh useless as an indicator of much of anything since all you have to do is check the Republican box or the Democrat box when you appear and you are given the appropriate ballot. There is no party "registration". You are what you say you are, but every man is a liar (Romans 3:4).

Trump is the accidental anarchist to Biden the intentional one

Trump treating NATO like a plaything in South Carolina:

'No, I would not protect you [NATO], in fact I would encourage them [Russia] to do whatever the hell they want, you gotta pay! You gotta pay your bills.'

Also in South Carolina, Trump oblivious to Nikki Haley's husband's military deployment:

“Then she comes over to see me at Mar-a-Lago. ‘Sir, I will never run against you.’ She brought her husband. Where’s your husband? Oh, he’s away. He’s away. What happened to her husband? What happened to her husband? Where is he? He’s gone! He knew. He knew,” Trump said.

In Michigan Ron DeSantis is still on the ballot Tuesday February 27th:

Ann Coulter: Ron DeSantis was filled with hubris from 2022 and misread the room, thinking the whole country was his Florida oyster

His 20-point victory in 2022, when Republicans were wiped out in the rest of the country, made DeSantis disinclined to consider the advice of people who were just trying to help him. ... DeSantis was running as if the entire voting population consisted of people with kids under the age of 18. In fact, that’s only about 20% of voters.

More.

I said as much last July, noting that 70% of Americans think having illegitimate children is morally acceptable.

The country is literally demoralized, which explains why it has the leadership it has, except in places like Florida, at least through 2026.

Florida is one of twenty-five states where governors are term-limited.

DeSantis Over Before It Started is the truest headline Drudge has posted in a long time

DeSantis should never have run this cycle in the first place, but once in, you gotta be in it! This withdrawal after one lousy contest is just pathetic. Not being prepared to run through Super Tuesday March 5th is the sign of an unserious candidacy.

But the worst part is DeSantis quits quoting Churchill about having the courage to continue is what counts. DeSantis is not continuing, hello. Doesn't he realize he's implying he has no courage?

This is just awful.

This guy is finished, for good.

He didn't have the wisdom to refrain from running in this election cycle, and he didn't have the courage to continue beyond Iowa

He's done, along with the country.

Volodymyr Zelensky is still fighting, however.

IA stands for Ignorant Actually

I mean, I get it. Republicans are going to vote for Trump because he's been treated very badly by this country. And I don't blame them. He has been.

But it is perilous to assume that non-Republicans share this animus in enough numbers for Trump to wrest control of the election in November. North of 40% of Republicans in Iowa don't share it enough to vote for their ex-president. Biden is a horrible alternative, but it still looks to me like we're going to get more of him, good and hard.

Meanwhile, of Ron DeSantis:

Dilatory fortune plays the jilt
With the brave, noble, honest, gallant man,
To throw herself away on fools and knaves.

-- Thomas Otway (1652-1685)

Florida has been the left's target since the pandemic began because it was an early adopter of lockdown skepticism under DeSantis

Newsom is just full of it, as usual.

California Governor Gavin Newsom, dumbest Democrat politician alive, walks into French Laundry door . . . again

Newsom: “You were a lockdown Governor… you locked down your beaches bars and restaurants… that’s just a fact. He’s running away from his record.”

DeSantis: “He’s imposed restrictions on his own people while exempting himself from those restrictions and going to the French Laundry while his people were suffering.”

Former Democrat and Leftist: DeSantis should have waited until 2028

Sasha Stone, here, who is all about the charisma but still can't spell Der Führer.

If Ron DeSantis' candidacy is so dead, why do Democrats continue to write hysterical attack columns about him?

Maria Cardona, RealClearPolitics

Florida is such a hellscape under DeSantis that he enjoys "a supermajority in both houses of the state’s legislature. It’s not a pretty picture . . .." lol

In Iowa 57% of Republicans want someone other than Trump in 2023, down from almost 76% of Iowans in 2016 who wanted someone else heh heh

  So much winning!

Iowa (DMR/NBC): Trump 43, DeSantis 16, Haley 16, Scott 7

Trump came in second behind Ted Cruz in the Feb 1, 2016 Iowa Republican Caucus:

Ted Cruz 27.64%

Donald Trump 24.3%

Marco Rubio 23.12%.

Wanting-it-both-ways DeSantis strikes again

At the same time, though, I look at guys like Chip Roy, Tom Massie, Jim Jordan, and they’re basically saying there’s not a plan to go forward with whatever Matt Gaetz is doing.

I've wanted Trump to just go away since about January 2019, Newt Gingrich since about 2012

Because it's all "just words", as Barack Obama once said.
