Trump pardons 23 pro-lifers convicted under cockamamie Freedom of Access to Clinics (FACE) Act, at least 10 others named are still in the slammer

Trump pardons 23 pro-life activists convicted of FACE Act violations

Many are still incarcerated. Lauren Handy, a Catholic convicted for her participation in a 2020 abortion clinic blockade in Washington, has been serving the longest sentence: 57 months.

According to a list maintained by Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Handy is currently in a federal prison in Florida. Idoni is incarcerated in Florida; Marshall and Goodman in Connecticut; Darnel and Calvin Zastrow in Illinois; Hinshaw in Massachusetts; Geraghty in Pennsylvania; Calvin Zastrow in Illinois; and Williams, who was arrested for protesting outside an abortion clinic in New York City, in Alabama.

Meanwhile paper tiger Donald Trump is caving, too, can't guarantee anything lol

Trump is already backing off his most important campaign promise

Trump told the “Meet the Press” host that he would work with Democrats to find a way to preserve Dreamers’ legal status. He said he would not ban abortion medication, fire Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell or order the prosecutions of his political opponents. ...

During the campaign, Trump proposed tariffs of 10-20% on all imports — and 60% on goods from China. Welker asked whether he could “guarantee” that Americans won’t pay higher prices under those tariffs.

“I can’t guarantee anything,” Trump replied.

Trump's European-style coalition cabinet is full of liberals and conservatism is dead LOL, says tormented son of a member of the John Birch Society

A pro-abortion RFK Jr. at HHS. A pro-union Chavez-DeRemer at Labor. Lefty Democrat Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence. And gay George Soros adviser Scott Bessent at Treasury.

The team represents the Trump worldview: Traditional conservatism is dead — and its biggest, lifelong advocates neutered to the point of irrelevance.

Mike Allen of AXIOS reminds me of no one so much as George W. Bush: "There is no conservative movement. I redefined the Republican Party".

I think Mike is in a perpetual state of PTSD because his father was a John Bircher.

Donald Trump's problem is that no real conservative wants to be associated with his lame duck brand, so he's got to find people SOMEWHERE to serve in his hapless administration. Might as well be lefties and liberals and Jeb Bush retreads like Pam Bondi at the Department of Justice after the Gaetz flameout.

Meanwhile, Donald J. Trump and George W. Bush are exactly the same person, except Georgie actually got more than 49.83% of the vote.

Democrats brought their Blue Wall of Conformity Tour to Michigan this week, populated by the nation's most liberal governors all wearing the same cute little uniform

Democrat governors Evers [WI], Whitmer [MI], and Shapiro [PA] stumped for Harris here in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Friday, wearing cute little jackets of conformity emblazoned Harris-Walz Blue Wall Bus Tour.

"A swiftly organized bus tour", says AP, organized long enough ago to get their uniforms in order but apparently not the sound system.

"At an indoor farmer’s market in Flint, signs of an event that came together quickly were hard to miss. Music blared from an iPhone after the venue’s sound system failed. One attendee, Debbie McIntosh, said she received a 'last-minute invitation yesterday.' ... [Harris] faces challenges in each [state], including concerns about Black voter turnout in the largest cities — Detroit, Milwaukee and Philadelphia — and growing frustration over the Israel-Hamas war, which has angered both Arab American and Jewish voters."

The Democrat governors of Maryland (Moore) and Massachusetts (Healey) were also part of the tour, standing at the left in the photo, as was DNC Chair Jaime Harrison (not pictured), and . . . New York Governor Kathy Hochul lol, standing to the far right in the photo, next to Shapiro. Almost no story mentions Hochul, the governor of one of the very most liberal states in the country.

These are the people who can't abide an America for Americans, voter ID, freedom of speech, states choosing the president, the right to keep and bear arms, or the right of an unborn baby to breathe. It's almost beside the point that they can't abide Trump.

If you want your state to be just another brick in the wall where no one can hear you, Harris is your gal.

She really, really, really doesn't want to go back there.

Kamala Harris is not cutting it with Pennsylvania Catholics like Joe Biden once did

Harris’ challenge isn’t limited to abortion. The region continues to inch rightward. And Harris didn’t do herself any favors in 2018, when as a senator she grilled a Catholic judicial nominee about whether he could remain impartial due to his membership in the Knights of Columbus, a respected Catholic fraternal organization with a strong presence in northeastern Pennsylvania. The questioning is fuel for a multi-million-dollar campaign in swing states, including Pennsylvania, led by CatholicVote, a conservative advocacy group. ...  in the northeastern part of the state, Trump was ahead by a comfortable margin, 50 percent to 43 percent.

... white Catholics nationally voted for Trump by a wide margin in 2020 and were on pace to vote for him again, with a spring Pew survey finding that white, non-Hispanic Catholic voters preferred the former president by a 61 percent to 38 percent margin over Biden. According to a recent EWTN/RealClear poll, that gap has narrowed, with Trump leading Harris among white Catholics, 52 percent to 42 percent. ... A Brookings analysis earlier this year by University of Pennsylvania professor John DiLulio noted that Hillary Clinton lost the overall white Catholic vote by 33 points in 2016, but four years later, Biden cut that deficit in half, losing by only 15 points. “As much as any single shift in voting patterns between those two elections, the shift in the white Catholic vote away from Trump cost him the 2020 election,” wrote DiLulio.

The story never once mentions the possible appeal of J. D. Vance, a convert to Catholicism in 2019, to America's Catholic voters.

For those saying Kamala Harris would get rid of the filibuster just for abortion, she herself said in 2019 she'd get rid of the filibuster to pass the green new deal

Everything would be up for grabs.

Harry Reid eliminating the filibuster for judicial appointments worked out poorly for Democrats, Kamala Harris tells Wisconsin Public Radio she'd eliminate the filibuster to get a national right to abortion back

It doesn't occur to these people that Republicans would retaliate in kind when they regain control of both chambers of Congress, passing their biggest ideas on simple majorities.

Retiring Senator Joe Manchin said ending the filibuster would turn the Senate into "the House on steroids," which is exactly right.

Retiring Senator Kyrsten Sinema said Republicans would use the new power "to ban all abortion nationwide", which is unlikely but possible.

But still Kamala persists, because she's not too bright.

Trump has been moving left on abortion, adding insult to injury with a commitment to another federal mandate

In August, Trump reiterated his opposition to Florida’s ban on abortions after six weeks. Asked if he supported an amendment to the state’s constitution expanding the right to abortion, Trump said, “I am going to be voting that we need more than six weeks.” Faced with a firestorm of criticism from anti-abortion groups, Trump campaign officials maintained he “has not yet said how he will vote on the ballot initiative.” ...

At the end of August, with polls showing a slight lead for Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump announced that “because we want more babies,” his administration would require either the federal government or insurance companies to pay the entire cost (which typically runs in the tens of thousands of dollars per individual) of IVF treatments for all Americans. He did not specify whether his proposal would be implemented through the Affordable Care Act, which he has promised to repeal, or whether he has become an advocate of socialized medicine. Nor did Trump reconcile the plan with the 2024 GOP platform, which has language that seems to support rights of citizenship, under the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, to fertilized eggs, embryos and fetuses.

More.

Trump has learned nothing.

Tim Walz has lied for years about serving in Afghanistan, he's a total phony: He never served in-country anywhere, he was never in combat with a weapon of war, he retired to avoid deployment to Iraq with his unit, he said he didn't know he was being deployed but did, and was demoted from Command Sergeant Major as a result

Five fucking lies about his service.

He's an insult to the uniform.

His own press release in March 2005 quotes him saying it was his responsibility to deploy to Iraq with his unit.

When he found out they were deploying, his commanding officer is on the record saying he went around his command to retire.

Shall we add that he promised in 2018 a moderate "One Minnesota" governorship, but instead gave them a culture war, signing a bill providing for abortion up until the time of birth, legalized marijuana, gave drivers licenses to illegals, and made Minnesota a mecca for trannies?

He's a lying snake and always has been.

JD Vance deletes things from his past, which is . . . troubling

For example, that he voted for Evan McMuffinhead in 2016, that he thought Trump was reprehensible, and now . . . pro-life sections of his Senate campaign website.

Trump's RNC strong-armed the GOP platform committee, weakened its abortion provisions, pared it down from 66 pages to 16

“The 2024 platform is a decent statement of campaign priorities, but not necessarily the enduring principles of a party,” said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. “Unfortunately, the process was unbecoming of constitutional conservatives which did not allow the document to be amended or improved.” ...

Gayle Ruzicka, a platform committee member from Utah, said the RNC staff “didn’t allow” a discussion on the language the platform used on abortion.

“I had planned to go up there to try and make an amendment and they said we could make amendments,” she said, adding that she had been on platform committees several times and found it “very unusual.”

“They didn’t even give us a chance to read it before we voted on it,” Ruzicka said. She didn’t know exactly how long they had before voting — staff had taken her watch, phone and laptop — but it was “maybe a couple of hours” filled by speakers.

“I’m very frustrated. I think we were treated very poorly. We spent a lot of money to get here. We were supposed to have the opportunity to study it and read it. We didn’t get even a chance to read it first,” Ruzicka said. “They gave it to us, but we kept waiting to go to our committee and then they didn’t ever do committees.”
