Yes indeed, Americans want illegals deported, and Trump is spending billions upon billions trying to do just that, but even apart from the resistance being encountered in Democrat-controlled cities, the numbers just don't add up in all the places York says Trump is succeeding.

 

Byron says there are nine million new illegals because of Joe Biden. Trump has deported 600,000 so far, and is likely to be lucky to wind up deporting just 2.4 million. The vast majority of them will still be here when Trump is long gone.

 

Clearly the policy is ineffective, on top of being brutal, unjust, murderous, and a huge waste of money.

 

Trump is ominously expanding the federal infrastructure of a tyrannical police state which a future president might find all too tempting to use to impose gun confiscation, for example. He keeps demanding local cooperation with federal enforcement, which the courts have said violates the Bill of Rights. This impulse is authoritarian, not American. 

 

Trump should have spent what little political capital he won in 2024 by pushing a legislative solution to immigration which placed severe penalties and jail time on persons and companies who hire illegal aliens, and by imposing strict federal regulation against social spending on, and social privileges like drivers licenses for, illegal aliens.

 

Mitt Romney was right that we have to turn off the magnets which attract illegal immigration. Rounding them up one by one is a fool's errand.

The rapidity with which one man has turned the relatively quiet streets of America into a heretofore only imagined police state exposes yet another failure of the American system of government to prevent the abuse of power.

Today, the deserts, forests and mountains of the nation’s land borders are dotted with checkpoints and increasingly, surveillance towers, Predator drones, thermal cameras and license plate readers, both covert and overt.

Border Patrol’s parent agency got authorization to run a domestic license plate reader program in 2017, according to a Department of Homeland Security policy document. At the time, the agency said that it might use hidden license plate readers ”for a set period of time while CBP is conducting an investigation of an area of interest or smuggling route. Once the investigation is complete, or the illicit activity has stopped in that area, the covert cameras are removed,” the document states.

But that’s not how the program has operated in practice, according to interviews, police reports and court documents. License plate readers have become a major — and in some places permanent — fixture of the border region. ...

The Border Patrol also has access to a nationwide network of plate readers run by the Drug Enforcement Administration, documents show, and was authorized in 2020 to access license plate reader systems sold by private companies. ...

They managed to make us a surveillance society, it is true, and increasingly a security state, but life has been pretty much normal because we took the battle over there, at enormous expense to ourselves and everyone involved. 

Islamic fundamentalism has been no match for freedom. It doesn't really know how to exploit freedom to destroy it, being at its root itself unfree. It has had to resort to a kind of Fabianism instead, exploiting Western openess to emigrate to Western countries and reproduce there in the hope of eventually outnumbering us. They risk assimilating in the process, however.

But really to destroy freedom outright you need freedom to the max . . . you need anarchy!

In other words, you need a virus! The virus is totally free! It spreads just like that, and you can hardly stop it. Just look at how we have tried.

The virus has been everything Antifa only wished it could be. And Antifa has nothing on it. One look at Antifa and people recoil. Hell, Antifa recoils at itself. It disguises itself and skulks around in packs, and runs home to mommy after its violent stunts.

But the virus is totally free. It's everywhere, it's invisible and it's everything Antifa only wishes it could be. For the virus there are already no borders, no walls, no USA at all. It goes wherever it likes, whenever it likes, and doesn't need a disguise, because it looks just like you, just like me.

The only thing more powerful than an anarchic virus is a self-ordered host, a person who chooses not to be a victim or a spreader, a person fully in control of himself, who can say no to himself.
