Trump expands the police state by bribing local police with monies from the Big Ugly Bill in exchange for help enforcing immigration law

The Supreme Court slapped down Arizona in 2012 for trying to enforce its border with Mexico when Obama wouldn't do it.

Will they slap this down?

Agreements that allow local police to work with ICE skyrocket

Agreements between Immigration and Customs Enforcement and local law enforcement that allow officers to make federal immigration arrests have increased by 950% in the first year of President Donald Trump’s second term, according to a new analysis of ICE data.

As of Jan. 26, there were 1,168 agencies with officers trained to help ICE, up from 135 during the Biden administration and 150 at the end of Trump’s first term, according to the analysis by FWD.US, a nonpartisan policy organization.

The Trump administration has called on local law enforcement to support its growing deportation operations nationwide, reviving a controversial “task force” model that allows local police officers to be deputized by ICE to stop people and make arrests based on suspicion that someone is in the country illegally. ...

ICE’s advertising for the program promised to give law enforcement agencies $7,500 for equipment per trained officer; $100,000 for new vehicles and overtime pay of up to 25% of an officer’s salary.

The analysis shows 39 states have policing agencies now participating, but didn’t give the total number of officers now working with ICE.

The states with the most participating agencies were Florida, with 342 agreements, Texas, with 296 agreements, Tennessee, with 63 agreements, Pennsylvania, with 58 agreements and Alabama with 52 agreements, according to the analysis by FWD.US, which advocates for immigration and criminal justice reforms.

State and local police agencies and sheriffs departments potentially stand to gain between $1.4 billion and $2 billion this year if they agree to participate because of the large infusion of cash from Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, the organization predicted.

“This amount would dwarf all other federal funding for local law enforcement,” the FWD.US report found. ...

Feds declare victory in Minnesota immigration enforcement operation and begin withdrawal, cutting their losses

They leave two murdered civilians in their wake, a permanent stain on the Trump administration.

... “We have greatly reduced the number of targets for enforcement action” in the Twin Cities region as a result of the influx of thousands of officers from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection agencies, Homan said at a press conference. ...

The biggest number in this story is $293.6 million

Wake me when the New York Post writes a story entitled:

Trump's $75 billion ICE Police State rammed through right-wing Congress at taxpayer expense under phony reconciliation rules

Ordinarily there is a trial first, at least in the America I once knew

American Greatness confidently tells us that the American and French revolutions had nothing whatsover to do with one another when French financial support of the American one lead to theirs

Seen here:

... The two revolutions had nothing whatsoever to do with one another ...

They had more to do with one another than not.

Louis XVI unwisely spent literally billions of dollars he did not have supporting the American revolution. His motivation for support was revenge against Britain. Most of it was piled up as high interest debt which the rich of the French aristocracy and of the Church refused to pay but the peasantry could not. Add famine into the mix after trying to squeeze blood out of that turnip and boom.

Donald Trump is spending $75 billion we don't have to round up illegal aliens in the streets using militarized police, but he refuses to punish the employers who get rich off their labor. He got elected promising to cut food and energy costs but here we are one year later and those things still cost a fortune.

Two Americans have been murdered in the streets by government agents.

You can see where this could go, but American Greatness can't.

GOP Police State Culture Wrecking America, Actually Killing People

Gee, I thought the GOP controlled all three branches of the federal government, how could this be happening?

Some of the commenters on this video snarl over the absence of such protests in Minnesota over the $9 billion fraud schemes, not realizing that this street theatre is costing them $75 billion

The ICE agents in this video twice fail to find open doors on their own vehicles to dump their detainees in, the incompetence being a metaphor for the ultimate failure all this sound and fury will turn out to be, when in the end ICE will be lucky to have deported only 2.4 million of the now 25 million illegal aliens Trump says are present in the United States.

The rapidity with which one man has turned the relatively quiet streets of America into a heretofore only imagined police state exposes yet another failure of the American system of government to prevent the abuse of power.

If it were not so, this would not be happening.

Donald Trump is building out the police state on the nation's roads through U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Border Patrol's license plate reader program

Border Patrol is monitoring US drivers and detaining those with ‘suspicious’ travel patterns

... Once limited to policing the nation’s boundaries, the Border Patrol has built a surveillance system stretching into the country’s interior that can monitor ordinary Americans’ daily actions and connections for anomalies instead of simply targeting wanted suspects. Started about a decade ago to fight illegal border-related activities and the trafficking of both drugs and people, it has expanded over the past five years. ...

The result is a mass surveillance network with a particularly American focus: cars. ...

The Border Patrol has for years hidden details of its license plate reader program, trying to keep any mention of the program out of court documents and police reports, former officials say, even going so far as to propose dropping charges rather than risk revealing any details about the placement and use of their covert license plate readers. Readers are often disguised along highways in traffic safety equipment like drums and barrels. ...

... it reaches far into the interior, impacting residents of big metropolitan areas and people driving to and from large cities ... beyond the agency’s usual jurisdiction of 100 miles (161 kilometers) from a land or sea border. ...

Border Patrol’s parent agency, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said they use license plate readers to help identify threats and disrupt criminal networks and are “governed by a stringent, multi-layered policy framework, as well as federal law and constitutional protections, to ensure the technology is applied responsibly and for clearly defined security purposes.” ...

Today, the deserts, forests and mountains of the nation’s land borders are dotted with checkpoints and increasingly, surveillance towers, Predator drones, thermal cameras and license plate readers, both covert and overt.

Border Patrol’s parent agency got authorization to run a domestic license plate reader program in 2017, according to a Department of Homeland Security policy document. At the time, the agency said that it might use hidden license plate readers ”for a set period of time while CBP is conducting an investigation of an area of interest or smuggling route. Once the investigation is complete, or the illicit activity has stopped in that area, the covert cameras are removed,” the document states.

But that’s not how the program has operated in practice, according to interviews, police reports and court documents. License plate readers have become a major — and in some places permanent — fixture of the border region. ...

The Border Patrol also has access to a nationwide network of plate readers run by the Drug Enforcement Administration, documents show, and was authorized in 2020 to access license plate reader systems sold by private companies. ...

Irony alert: Masked ICE, DHS, CBP employees who get to hide their identities roam the streets with facial recognition capability to gather images and fingerprints of citizens

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

You thought you were voting for deportations of illegals, and you got an Obama-style police state instead.

If you see ICE, CBP, DHS on the street, turn around and go the other way, and vote against these bastards.

You Can't Refuse To Be Scanned by ICE's Facial Recognition App, DHS Document Says

... On Wednesday 404 Media reported that both ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are scanning peoples’ faces in the streets to verify citizenship.

... The app can also scan peoples’ fingerprints and provide information based on those, and uploads location data “so ICE can identify where the encounter took place.”

“Although the intended purpose of the Mobile Fortify Application is to identify aliens who are removable from the United States, users may use Mobile Fortify to collect information in identifiable form about individuals regardless of citizenship or immigration status. It is conceivable that a photo taken by an agent using the Mobile Fortify mobile application could be that of someone other than an alien, including U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents,” the document continues.

... “By using the Mobile Fortify app to provide real-time responses to biometric queries, ICE officers and agents can reduce the time and effort to identify targets compared to existing manual processes,” the document says.

Trump invokes emergency powers yet again, takes over DC police for 30 days under Home Rule Act over non-existent crime surge except against his own people, deploys National Guard

This is pissing-match security theatre: "If Biden can do it so can I".

... his emergency control is set to expire after a maximum of 30 days, according to the statute. That can be extended, but only if Congress passes a law authorizing it.

While Trump has frequently complained about crime in the district, violent crime there has fallen to a 30-year low as of January, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. ...

Different parties, same dopium: The Trump administration might get less blow back from these immigration raids if they tried just a little bit to appear less like Joe Biden's fascist police state

Acquitted pro-life activist Mark Houck reveals details of ‘reckless’ FBI raid; will press charges

... There were “at least 10, 15 marked and unmarked units right in front of me. Surrounding the side of my house, I have 100 yards to the street, cars lined all the way up to the street, long guns pointed at me, heavily armored vests, ballistic helmets, ballistic shields, a battering ram,” he said.

He said his daughter “took note” of an FBI agent in the back of the house, and there were at least five federal agents on his porch “with M-16s pointed at me and now my wife as she entered the opening of the door.” ...

Agents Use Military-Style Force Against Protesters at L.A. Immigration Raid

... The raid at the clothing wholesaler began about 9:15 a.m. in the Fashion District, less than two miles from Los Angeles City Hall.

It was an extraordinary show of force. Dozens of federal agents wearing helmets and green camouflage arrived in two hulking armored trucks and other unmarked vehicles, and were soon approached by a crowd of immigrant activists and supporters. Some agents carried riot shields and others held rifles, as well as shotguns that appeared to be loaded with less-than-lethal ammunition. ...

Republicans under Trump lay the groundwork for the police state which Democrats could only wish for: AG Pam Bondi threatens US House Representative Crockett (TX-30) with terrorism charge

In the future, everything wrong will be deemed "domestic terror" and suffer the draconian punishments for domestic terror.

Attorney General Pam Bondi, who has nothing better to do than appear everyday on Fox News, has the temerity to threaten a Congresswoman. Wait until it's your free speech which is threatened.

On second thought, don't wait. It already is.

... “She is an elected public official, so she needs to tread very carefully because nothing will happen to Elon Musk, and we’re going to fight to protect all of the Tesla owners throughout this country,” Bondi said during an appearance on Fox’s “Sunday Morning Futures.” ...

If AG Merrick Garland had done this to a Republican, you would have never heard the end of it from the likes of Mark Levin and his ilk.

But hey, when Republicans do it it's OK!
