So, we won't have Democrat Senator Bob Menendez to kick around anymore

NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez was convicted of all charges Tuesday in a sweeping corruption trial in which he was accused of accepting bribes of gold and cash from three New Jersey businessmen and acting as an agent for the Egyptian government.

A jury in Manhattan deliberated for parts of three days before finding the Democrat guilty of 16 crimes, including bribery, extortion, honest services fraud, obstruction of justice and conspiracy. ...

Two co-defendants were also convicted. The New Jersey businessmen, Wael Hana and Fred Daibes, were accused of paying bribes. A third businessman, Jose Uribe, pleaded guilty prior to trial and testified against the others. ...

Prosecutors said serial numbers on the gold bars and fingerprints on tape that bound together the stacks of cash were traced to Hana and Daibes.

In a wiretap recording made by federal law enforcement officials investigating Blagojevich for public corruption and obtained by the Tribune, Pritzker was heard suggesting African-American Secretary of State Jesse White for the position: “Even though I know you guys aren’t like, you know, bosom buddies or anything, it covers you on the African-American thing,” he said. Pritzker said that White was “Senate material in a way that (Democratic state Senate President) Emil Jones isn’t. … He’s just, I don’t know how to say it exactly, but Emil’s a little more crass.” ...

Jones, who has not accepted Pritzker’s apology, brought up something Pritzker said in public that may prove even more damaging with Democrats and African-Americans. It was in a cable TV interview in early 2012, when Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich were vying in the GOP presidential primaries and Obama had no serious opposition for re-election.

“Are you going to vote for this president?” asked the reporter.

“We’ll have to wait and see,” said Pritzker. “I don’t know who the nominee is going to be on the Republican side. … Ultimately, as in every election, it’s going to be a choice between two people and two parties that you’re not 100 percent behind. … You just have to pick … the best of a mediocre set of choices.”

 So he considered Obama mediocre? So mediocre that he might vote Republican?

A Terrible Day in Court for Trump Prosecutor Fani Willis

As DA, Willis has full authority to hire outside attorneys and pay them generously. The problem arises only if she received personal (corrupt) benefits from her decision. That’s what makes Thursday’s testimony such a problem for Willis, regardless of when she began the affair. After Wade began work for her, the two went on expensive trips together and cannot prove they split the costs. The question whether Willis acted corruptly is underscored by her decision to hire an attorney who spent his career dealing with small cases.  

Most of the damaging information that came out Thursday stems from a nasty, ongoing divorce case between Nathan Wade and his wife of twenty-six years, Joycelyn. When Nathan began his romantic relationship with Fani Willis, he was separated but still married. That’s how Joycelyn managed to get hold of the credit card statements showing the expenses for Nathan and Fani’s jaunts together. Joycelyn has said she was nearly penniless while Nathan was spending lavishly and hiding their joint income.

This is so silly. Politicians buy voters with spending legislation. Right now they want to give families and businesses $70 billion in new tax credits, and to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan $95 billion in new defense aid.

You don't get $34 trillion in debt by accident.

We have the government we deserve. It's the voters who are corrupt.

Oooh, but that's a surer third rail statement than "I want to cut Social Security" ever was. You cannot insult the voters and get re-elected.

That's what pulpits used to be for, but no one goes there anymore. Somebody has to say it.

Smaller government means less money sloshing around to help your friends and hurt your enemies, which is what this is really all about.

Repent, and believe the gospel. The alternative is oblivion for the U. S. A.
