In the desert, on a horse with no name

Iranian projectiles continue to strike Gulf countries; Tehran says new leader appointed

... Iranian media said a new leader has been appointed, replacing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the opening salvos of the war. ...

Iran’s Mehr news agency quoted Ayatollah Seyyed Ahmad Alam al-Huda as saying Sunday elections have been held to replace Khamenei and that a new leader has been appointed. It did not give a name. “All the rumors and news that tried to pretend that the Assembly of Experts has not yet made a decision are pure lies,” al-Huda was quoted as saying. Iranian state media reported on Saturday that two influential Iranian clerics have called for the swift selection of a new supreme leader. ...

The Israel Defense Forces said Sunday it would “pursue every successor and every person who seeks to appoint a successor.” ...

The U.S. and Israel pulled the Iran war trigger when they did because intelligence revealed the opportunity to decapitate the regime in one fell swoop

Let's hope that this time they are successful in eliminating Iran's nuclear capabilities once and for all.

Last Monday [Feb 23], Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called President Trump with a stunning tip: Iran's supreme leader and his top advisers were all set to meet at one location in Tehran on Saturday morning [Feb 28].

They could all be killed in a single devastating airstrike, Netanyahu told Trump and his team, according to three sources briefed on the discussion. ... The Feb. 23 call — held from the White House Situation Room and unreported until now — was a pivotal moment that set the Iran war in motion. ...

On Friday at 3:38 p.m. EST, [Trump] gave the final order. Eleven hours later, bombs fell on Tehran, Khamenei was killed and the war had begun. ...

... According to a Financial Times report, almost all of the Iranian capital’s traffic cameras were secretly tapped. ...

Iran has far more enriched uranium than people realize

... Prior to the Israeli and U.S. strikes, Iran had enriched at least 880 pounds of highly enriched uranium to 60 percent according to the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Relatively speaking, even if it would take some time for Iran to enrich that stockpile to weapons-grade highly enriched uranium (90 percent ) — the amount needed for a modern nuclear missile strike — it could use the 60 percent stockpile it already has to construct Hiroshima-like nuclear bombs.

Iran Watch estimates that Khamenei has enough to build “one or more” of the gun-type bomb known as “Little Boy,” the type of used in Hiroshima. It would only take 132 pounds of uranium enriched to 80 percent.

... while much of the media’s attention has been on Khamenei’s stores of 60 percent highly enriched uranium, we cannot overlook Iran’s 20 percent and 5 percent stockpiles. Prior to the June strikes, Tehran had 606 pounds of the former and 12,150 pounds of the latter.

Iran Watch ominously warns that “20 percent enriched uranium is approximately 90% of the way to weapon-grade and Iran’s stockpile would be sufficient to fuel at least two implosion weapons.” Plus, if further enriched, eventually Khamenei’s 5% stockpile could be used to “fuel at least 10 implosion weapons.” ...

Uranium highly enriched to 60 percent is in a gaseous state and can be stored in cylinders approximately the same size of a scuba tank. Moving or hiding some of them could have been as easy as putting them in the back of a small car or SUV. ...

This report sounds like there's wiggle room for Israel to take out Iran's Supreme Leader after missile strike on Israeli hospital

Dozens of Iranian missiles strike major Israeli hospital and residential buildings — as Israel hits nuclear sites

... Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to hit back even harder at Iran following the strike.

“We will exact the full price from the tyrants in Tehran,” he vowed in an X post.

Israel’s defense minister, Israel Katz, backed up Netanyahu’s threat.

“These are war crimes of the most serious kind — and [Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali] Khamenei will be held accountable for his crimes,” he tweeted.

“The Prime Minister and I have instructed the IDF to increase the intensity of attacks against strategic targets in Iran and against government targets in Tehran in order to remove threats to the State of Israel and undermine the ayatollahs’ regime.” ...

Reports suggest Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had a blast on his birthday last night

 Here:

“Hearing [Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei] is having a blast today on his birthday,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) wrote on X, shortly after reports of the Israeli strike began to emerge.

Khamenei, 84, was indeed born on April 19.
