Justin Amash flipflops, announces he's running as a Republican for the US Senate from Michigan after leaving the Republican Party in 2019

So now we have two guys who hate Trump, Justin Amash and Peter Meijer, running for retiring Democrat Debbie Stabenow's seat, and FBI goon Mike Rogers, the current favorite.

Story here

Last September I predicted he'd run, except as a spoiler for the Libertarian Party.

This is just more evidence that he has never been the consistent libertarian he has claimed to be. He's nothing but a climber, like all the rest.

For a good time, call Angela: The Libertarian Party is very interested in RFK Jr for Election 2024 but not Justin Amash lol

In July, Mr. Kennedy met privately with Angela McArdle, the chair of the Libertarian Party, at a conference they were both attending in Memphis — a meeting that has not previously been reported.

“He emphasized that he was committed to running as a Democrat but said that he considered himself very libertarian,” Ms. McArdle said in an interview, adding that they agreed on several positions, including the threat of the “deep state” and the need for populist messaging. “We’re aligned on a lot of issues.”

“My perspective is that we are going to stay in touch in case he does decide to run,” Ms. McArdle said. “And he can contact me at any time if that’s the case.”

More.

I can see it now: Edward Snowden foe Mike Rogers will be the Republican candidate for US Senate from Michigan and Justin Amash will run as the Libertarian Party spoiler to help Democrat Elissa Slotkin win

Former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, a Michigan native and former FBI agent who rose to become chairman of the House Intelligence Committee before leaving Congress more than eight years ago, announced Wednesday he is running for the Republican nomination for the state's open U.S. Senate seat next year.

The story, here, never mentions Rogers' strong opposition to what Edward Snowden did to reveal illegal US government surveillance of US citizens.

Fourth Amendment libertarians are certain at least to take note.

Rogers is ex-FBI.

Joe Biden, the Puritan Catholic, is as bad as the libertarian Justin Amash ever was, making the perfect the enemy of the good, but sillier

President Biden: "Every Time We Let Hate Flourish, We Make A Lie Of Who We Are As A Nation"

"We're the United States of America. We're unique among all nations. We are uniquely a product of a document. Not an ethnicity, not a religion, not a geography, of a document," President Biden says. "Every time we're silent, every time we let hate flourish, we make a lie of who we are as a nation. I mean it literally. We can not let the very foundation of this country continue to be eaten away."

This stupid, futile hate crime business was started by George H. W. Bush.

You might as well outlaw human nature and roll out the guillotines.

Hair on fire fundamentalism about the Declaration of Independence is no different than about the Constitution. The only thing Joe Biden is proving is that the left has its own strutting American exceptionalist fool, too.

"Somebody, somewhere had a bad thought. America is finished!"

For some reason Peter Meijer, Justin Amash's replacement, feels the need to parade his combat cred, basically admits to mental illness: "fully uniformed", "parachute in ... not literally", "a through and through combatant"

Here, apparently because some people doubt it. He did, after all, bail out of West Point and will forever live with the stigma.

Read the whole thing and you'll see the freshman congressman is already psychoanalyzing his colleagues while admitting to the need for some himself.

Unbelievable. This is what we elect to Congress. A rich kid trying to be somebody.

There's a lot of things I respect about Rep. Amash. At the end of the day, you're going to be your own person. I think much of my approach is guided by my experiences overseas. I was fully uniformed, a through-and-through combatant in Iraq; I'd do intelligence operations. That gave me one vantage point. When I was working in disaster response efforts around the world, you—not literally, but kind of—parachute into an area, whether it was the Philippines or South Sudan, domestic response for tornadoes and hurricanes. You have to make a little bit of order out of the chaos. And then when I was in Afghanistan later for a couple of years, as a conflict analyst for the humanitarian aid community, that was a very different perspective, too. But I saw a sense of, how do things fall apart and how can they be rebuilt? ...

We've inserted ourselves into the middle of civil wars; we've taken sides. Sometimes those sides switch. In Iraq, we're backing the Sunnis one time, we're backing the Shia the other. In Afghanistan, it becomes a shifting set of alliances.

Ultimately I think that erodes something at the core of our national soul that we kind of paper over. That's something that I'll have to sit on a therapist's couch to better understand.

Trump v Biden has tightened dramatically

Internal polls reported by both the Meijer campaign and the Scholten campaign in Michigan district 03 from September show Biden +2 in the district represented by Justin Amash.

Rasmussen has been publishing daily national polls since Monday, with Trump and Biden effectively tied:

Monday Trump +1
Tuesday Biden +2
Wednesday Trump +1
Thursday Biden +1.

Rasmussen's first weekly national poll from July 12 had Biden +10.

Real Clear Politics just moved Michigan back into "toss-up" on the strength of a Trafalgar poll showing Trump +2 in the state.

Biden and Obama are scheduled to appear together in Michigan on Saturday, three days before the election.

It's a business trip.

Got a call today from the Peter Meijer campaign, running for Justin Amash's seat (MI-3)

I asked about Meijer's position on immigration. Got the typical "he supports Trump's position" and favors lots of LEGAL immigration.

When probed on H1B visas the caller didn't know what they were. When I explained they allowed foreigners to work in the US, he offered that he thought Meijer was in favor of lots of those, too, even after I pointed out that tens of millions of Americans are out of work and don't need the competition.

The campaign worker clearly expected me to be a libertarian who is in favor of lots of immigration, which is what you'll get from Peter Meijer, Republican, if he's elected.

The caller wasn't prepared to encounter a voter who has often voted Republican who is against that.

Shows you how thimble deep Republican thinking is on the issue, and that Trump's GOP hasn't moved an inch in the direction of immigration restriction, mostly because Trump's a phony on immigration.

Won't be checking the box for Peter Meijer.

Speaker Pelosi snubs Justin Amash for impeachment manager, names some unknown Democrats instead

  • Pelosi names Reps. Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, Hakeem Jeffries, Zoe Lofgren, Val Demings, Jason Crow and Sylvia Garcia to manage the House impeachment case against Trump.
I sure hope the job comes with a map so they can find the US Senate chambers, and a pocket copy of the constitution.

Tulsi Gabbard upstages Justin Amash by being the only House member to vote Present on articles of impeachment

Amash voted Yea on both articles of impeachment as the sole independent.

Gabbard was late to favor an impeachment inquiry, supporting it only after Trump's Ukraine phone call in July.

Friday, November 1, 2019

The House impeachment inquiry, which is already being conducted in secret and restricts Republican involvement, was finally authorized but on entirely partisan grounds, by Democrats

232 YEAS (all Democrats plus Justin Amash, the libertarian nutjob from my district in Michigan), 196 NAYS (194 Republicans plus 2 Democrats), and 4 NOT VOTING (3 Republicans plus 1 Democrat:  A personal family emergency, the death of a father, and the call of military duty kept the three Republicans away from the vote; the lone Democrat not voting is recovering from surgery).

YEAS included sexual predator Katie Hill of California, who formally resigns her seat in the US House as of today, and candidate for president Army Major Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii.

LOL: CNN calls US House vote supporting 2-state solution and opposing boycott, divestment, sanctions movement "divisive" when it passed 398-17

Roll call vote 497 is here.

The headline is correct in one sense, however: Both hard left and hard right are cracking up.

The former leader of the Rebel Alliance, Justin Amash, ignominiously abandoned the fight to vote "present" with four other courageous Democrats cowardly lions, leaving his wingman Thomas Massie of Kentucky to cast the lone Republican "nay" vote.

Massie strangely thought it a good idea to associate himself with the likes of Democrats AOC, Omar and Tlaib, apparently rushing to fill in for Squad member Ayanna Pressley, who inexplicably abandoned her compatriots and voted "yea", proving once again that the true meaning of libertarianism is the freedom to be anti-Semitic.

Trump won't stop illegal aliens, Amash won't vote for impeachment, Sanders won't pay $15/hour to his own campaign staff

Pattern development. Trump is run by Javanka, Amash was kicked out by Javanka in a different form, and Sanders is Javanka.

Like immigration-do-nothing Trump, Amash talked a good game about impeachment but voted against it when the time came

I'm sure the excuse was that he had to vote to table the bill because it wasn't perfectly in accord with the constitution.
