Michigan's bigshot Democrats shun Joe Biden at Detroit appearance: Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Sen. Gary Peters, Sen. Debbie Stabenow, Sen. hopeful Elissa Slotkin, UAW President Shawn Fain

What a bunch of phony baloney plastic banana good time rock 'n rollas.

But at a critical juncture when Biden needs to consolidate support, key Democratic leaders in the state were notably absent Friday.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who is co-chair of Biden’s campaign, was out of the state. Sens. Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow, and Rep. Elissa Slotkin, who is vying for Michigan’s open Senate seat, were also not there. United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain, whom Biden actively courted during last year’s strikes, was traveling for a conference.

Rep. Hillary Scholten, who is seeking reelection in a battleground district in western Michigan, is among the lawmakers who’ve called on Biden to step aside.

More.

Justin Amash flip-flops, announces he's running as a Republican for the US Senate from Michigan after leaving the Republican Party in 2019

So now we have two guys who hate Trump, Justin Amash and Peter Meijer, running for retiring Democrat Debbie Stabenow's seat, and FBI goon Mike Rogers, the current favorite.

Story here

Last September I predicted he'd run, except as a spoiler for the Libertarian Party.

This is just more evidence that he has never been the consistent libertarian he has claimed to be. He's nothing but a climber, like all the rest.

Salena Zito thinks John James could beat Debbie Stabenow in Michigan

"With a little flow of cash and some borrowed time, he could be this year’s Larry Hogan — the Republican in a blue state no one was watching who got swept up in a wave in Maryland to win the governor’s office in 2014."

Read about it, here.

Tim Walberg just blamed no funding for the wall on Democrats Chuck Shumer and Debbie Stabenow

Just now on the Steve Gruber Show.

Walberg knows damn well Republicans control the Congress and can pass such spending if they want to. Spending bills don't require supermajorities.

Republicans simply don't want a wall.

Six female senators ask Franken to resign, but not mine, Debbie Stabenow of Michigan

Reported here:

In statements Wednesday, six of Franken's female Democratic colleagues — Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Mazie Hirono of Hawaii, Claire McCaskill of Missouri, Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire, Patty Murray of Washington and Kamala Harris of California — pushed for him to step down. Murray is the third-ranking Senate Democrat and the highest ranking woman.

The list has been updated at about 4:25 PM to include Stabenow and others.

Declare a Tax and Penalty Exemption on IRA or 401K Withdrawals in 2010

This was interesting to read on January 8 over at Jesse's Cafe Americain:

Here's a modest proposal. Raise the amount of losses from investments that can be deducted from income in one year from $3,000 to $20,000 for individuals and $40,000 filing jointly so mom and pop can clean up their balance sheets. And if they really want to jump start the economy, declare a tax and penalty exemption on the first $150,000 that an individual can withdraw from their IRA or 401K in 2010.

The latter idea I proposed myself a year ago in a letter to Democrat Senator Debbie Stabenow of Michigan (rhymes with Stab Me Now). Except I didn't propose the tax exemption, just the penalty exemption. I pitched it as a wonderful way to help people make good on their debts, and generate some much needed revenue for the government. No reply, of course.

She probably didn't understand the significance of the idea, having been a public school teacher.

In the interim it's become quite clear that doing something helpful for the American people is about the last thing on their minds, except for the meagre scraps they gather and throw in our direction come election time. The dogs go for these every time. No wonder the contempt they have for the popular will on healthcare.
