Fixed income investors in US Treasury securities took a beating last week as yields surged 4.67%
Year to date total return tanked for 30-year bonds from 2.01% on 9/27/24 to -0.78% on 10/4/24.
For 20-year bonds year to date return fell from 3.33% to 0.98% over the week.
There was similar carnage down the curve. Only 3mo and 6mo Treasury bills were up year to date week over week.
Trump strongholds in North Carolina and Georgia were hit hard by Hurricane Helene
Politico reports here:
Hurricane Helene hit especially hard in heavily Republican areas of Georgia and North Carolina — a fact that could work to Donald Trump’s disadvantage in the two swing states. ...
The parts of western North Carolina and eastern Georgia that were
flooded by the monster storm are largely Republican. In 2020, he won 61
percent of the vote in the North Carolina counties that were declared a
disaster after Helene. He won 54 percent of the vote in Georgia’s
disaster counties. ...
State records show that nearly 40,000 absentee ballots were mailed to voters in the 25 North Carolina counties that were declared a disaster following Helene. Fewer than 1,000 have been returned.

Kamala Harris would be the first president with a VP who said he fought in a war he didn't fight in, with a rank he didn't have, used IVF to have kids when he didn't, and placed himself at the scene of a famous foreign event when he was still in Nebraska
The Harris-Biden messaging is in complete disarray: Kamala boasts right now about spending millions to aid Lebanon, which harbors Israel's enemies, while her own DHS Secretary is warning FEMA is running out of money for hurricanes
And Mayorkas couldn't care less about FEMA running out of money or the suffering in the Southeast. He went clothes shopping on Saturday.
This administration excels at in-your-face bad optics in addition to doing a horrible job.

Are you ready for 67% all-electric vehicles by 2032, or 56% all-electrics and 13% plug-in hybrids, because that is what you will get if Kamala Harris wins and simply lets the EPA final rule from March play out
Automakers could still comply with the final rule by making EVs account for 67 percent of new car sales in 2032, according to the EPA. But they could also meet the requirements by making all-electric vehicles account for 56 percent and making plug-in hybrids represent 13 percent, the agency said.
And we're not talking about hybrids which you don't have to plug in.
Kamala Harris is bent on abolishing combustion engine vehicles entirely, as she was in 2019.
Toilet paper shortage blamed on Hurricane Helene demand and/or panic over the port strike which lasted three days, either way we're sol so to speak
A spokesperson for Walmart said there has been “increased demand in some communities on items like bath tissue and paper towels - especially in areas impacted by Hurricane Helene.”
Port strike 2024 triggers toilet paper 'panic buying' at Costco locations
The rush to buy is in response to thousands of dockworkers going on strike Tuesday, shutting down 36 ports along the East and Gulf coasts. ...
Jennifer Lee, of our sister station FOX 29 Philadelphia, spoke with Dr. Subodha Kumar – a professor at the FOX School of Business at Temple University – who says the port strikes won’t have much of a short-term impact on consumers, and absolutely none on the supply of toilet paper.
The Harris-Biden M/O: Create an illegal alien emergency through asylum gimmick, redirect emergency funds meant for hurricanes to communities overrun with foreigners, run out of money when hurricanes hit, blame Republicans

Not one roll of toilet paper available at my local Sam's Club.

Tim Walz got married on the 5th anniversary of the end of the Tiananmen protests, June 4, 1994, because it was a date he would remember says his wife, and even honeymooned there! but NOW he gets his dates wrong
In 1995, he and his wife registered a for-profit company in Nebraska to take high-school students on trips to the Communist country. Gwen Walz, a former teacher and school administrator, is listed as the president of Educational Travel Adventures, while Walz is listed as the secretary and treasurer of the company that was incorporated using their home address in Mankato, Minn., according to public documents.
They married a year earlier on June 4, 1994, the fifth anniversary of the end of the deadly Tiananmen protests. “He wanted a date he’ll always remember,” Gwen told the Scottsbluff Star-Herald in 1994. The two spent their honeymoon there, according to the paper.

Local fire official tells private chopper pilot not to rescue people in Western North Carolina after rescuing people or be arrested
Helicopter pilot threatened with arrest after flying rescue missions in flood-ravaged NC
“I can only imagine what the people were thinking. You’ve been stranded for 24, 36 hours. No way to speak with anyone. You don’t know what’s going on and you see a lifeline fly over and they keep going. I can only imagine what they were thinking.”
He added: “If I had to do it over again, I would have stopped and I would have rescued as many people until they decided they were going to arrest me.”
Officials in the town of Lake Lure could not immediately be reached by The Post on Wednesday.
UPDATE:
Ford Motor sells 1.5+ million vehicles year to date, 67,689 of them EVs . . . 4.5% of the total 😂
The third-quarter results for Ford contributed to a 45% increase in
EV sales this year through September to 67,689 units. That compares with
GM on Tuesday reporting EV sales of 70,450 units through September,
including a roughly 60% year-over-year rise during the third quarter. ...
Ford’s U.S. sales this year through the third quarter were up 2.7% compared with a year earlier to more than 1.5 million vehicles sold.
More.
EVs represent just 4.9% of GM's 1.95 million vehicles sold year to date.
Meanwhile the top selling vehicles of 2023 were pick'em up trucks. The Ford F-series was numero uno at 750,789 units, followed by the Chevy Silverado at 543,780 units.
CNBC's enthusiasm for the tiny EV component competition between the big two, separated by 2,761 EV units, is . . . comical.
Harris-Biden disaster response in Western North Carolina is a disaster: 40 civilian choppers rescuing people stuck in the mountains, many at their own expense, but only 2 US government
What got me fired up about this was yesterday, me and my team did the rescue of that 11-day-old baby and all these government officials and social media, they're showing that video, pictures and video of that rescue and claiming that they have some government help with that. Even USA Today wrote an article about it saying it was a Florida National Guard that went and got it with a helicopter. No, it was me, my buddy Charlie, and a civilian named Zeb with his own personal helicopter out of Wilmington, North Carolina.
Without that civilian, that baby would be dead. And the old lady we went and rescued after that, she'd be dead too because she had one day left of oxygen. No one was going to go get them.
I will tell you when we go up in the air, I probably see 40 civilian helicopters. I might see two Blackhawks, National Guard, military, whatever they are. That's it.

Jane Doe alleges Doug Emhoff slapped her really hard, ending their relationship in May 2012, three friends back up her story and allege Emhoff may have caused his knocked-up nanny to miscarry
... The third friend, a female top company executive, said Jane told her the story in 2018. ...
'He's holding himself out to be something he absolutely is not. And that's bulls***,' said the female executive. 'I feel like people should know who their leaders really are.
'[Jane] was always leaning Democratic. I have always voted Democratic. If anything I would like to tell a story on the other side. But this is the truth,' she added.
'He's a really bad guy. To hold him out as a supporter of women is just disgusting.
'Unfortunately, you've got a nut in Trump, and then you've got not a good choice on the other side.
'People can make their own choice once they know. But I feel like transparency is the best disinfectant for bad behavior.'
The Vance-Walz debate highlighted yet another case of Tim Walz lying about his past, claiming he was in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Massacre when he was still in Nebraska
‘I’m a Knucklehead’: Walz Gives Disastrous Answer When Questioned on Inaccurate Claims at Debate
Minnesota Governor and Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz
stumbled while answering a question about his inaccurate claims about
himself on Tuesday night, boasting about his “service” riding his bike
as a kid and admitting “I’m a knucklehead” in a rambling answer. ...
... Walz’s claims that he was in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square protests have been repeated in media reports. But contemporaneous newspaper reports first resurfaced by the Washington Free Beacon, a conservative news outlet, place Walz in Nebraska around that time. An issue of the Alliance Times-Herald dated May 16, 1989, features a photo of Walz touring a Nebraska National Guard storeroom. In the photo’s caption, the paper notes that Walz “will take over the job” of staffing the storeroom from a retiring guardsman and “will be moving to Alliance,” Nebraska. A separate newspaper article about Walz’s planned trip to China published by a Nebraska-based outlet in April 1989 reported that he planned to travel to China in early August of that year. ...
J. D. Vance v Tim Walz and CBS debate moderators: Harris-Biden facilitate illegal immigration through CBP One application
CBS News Cuts Mic When JD Vance Tries To Explain Mobile App For Asylum Seekers :
SEN. JD VANCE: The rules were you weren't going to fact check, and since you are going to fact-check me, it's important to say what's actually going on. There is an application called the "CBP One" app where you can go as an illegal migrant, apply for asylum or apply for parole, and be granted legal status at the wave of a Kamala Harris open border wand. That is not a person coming in and applying for a green card and waiting for ten years, that is the facilitation of illegal immigration by our own leadership. ... The CBP One app has not been on the books since 1990. It is something that Kamala Harris created.
Nothing illustrates better the threat to free speech from Democrats and the media than what CBS did to help Walz by breaking the rules in his favor and cutting the mic:
BRENNAN: Gentlemen, the audience can't hear you because the mics are cut. We have so much we want to get to.

GM reported a 2.2% drop in third-quarter sales compared with a year earlier, slipping to 659,601 vehicles sold, 32,100 of which were EVs 🤣

of roughly $35,000 to more than $300,000 . . . 😂😂😂

Tennessee sent 700 National Guard to Kuwait the day Hurricane Helene blew in
In Tennessee, on the day the hurricane blew in, 700 National Guard troops were deployed ...to Kuwait, to take part in some waste-of-time military exercise organised by a Pentagon that hasn't won anything since VJ Day and takes twenty years to lose to goatherds with fertiliser. Ukraine matters, union disputes in Yemen matter, the millions swarming across the Rio Grande to be resettled across the fruited plain matter. But Maui, East Palestine, and rural North Carolina don't matter. ... Unlike Katrina, this hurricane is nothing to do with whoever's running the executive branch of the United States. As to who precisely that is, all we can say for certain is that, of the more than seven billion people on earth, it's not Joe Biden, because he's focused on collective bargaining in Yemen, and Kamala Harris, because nobody would put her in charge of anything.
Well, except for half the voters in the United States.
If those numbers hold up, expect a lot more of western North Carolina in your future.
-- Mark Steyn, here
Over 700 Tennessee National Guard Soldiers Deploy to Kuwait for Operation Spartan Shield :
Over 700 soldiers from the Tennessee Army National Guard's 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment are set to leave their home state for a deployment in the Middle East this Saturday. These service members, specifically from the regiment's 2nd Squadron, will spend a few weeks at Fort Bliss, Texas for final preparations before heading to Kuwait.
The president, who is hard of hearing, confuses Israeli Yemen strike question from a reporter with a US union strike scheduled for Tuesday
The most interesting part of the video however is how Jill just abandons Joe to his fate with the reporters, showing that she doesn't care to cover for him anymore, you know, like Democrats have been doing since the beginning of this administration.
The reporters don't even help him.
The pathetic spectacle is here.

"What shall I wear to the southern border? I know, this price-gouging Tiffany necklace will look great!"
The New York Post speculates it was a $62,000 version, which in the catalog is clunkier and shorter and looks more like a dog collar compared with what Kamala is wearing.
My guess is a cheaper Tiffany version advertized for . . . $18,500!
We already know she has expensive tastes, fancying a Hermes belt for $1,060.
Imagine if this enemy of The Bill of Rights had beaten George W. Bush in 2004
One of history's most famous examples of winning enough votes to get the power to hammer speech out of existence:
Kamala Harris releases 82-page economic plan, CNBC's 40-plus paragraph article says her anti-price-gouging plan is still unclear lol
Kamala Harris wants to take on price gouging. It’s hard to find agreement on what it even is
As she unveiled her most detailed economic plan yet this week, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris pledged to fight price gouging in order to rein in voters’ grocery costs.
The vice president first teased the federal ban in mid-August, prompting former President Donald Trump to attack the plan as “Soviet-style” price controls. Although Harris released more detail Wednesday as part of her 82-page economic plan, it’s still unclear what price hikes her administration would see as illegal “price gouging.”
“The bill will set rules of the road to make clear that big corporations can’t unfairly exploit consumers during times of crisis to run up excessive corporate profits on food and groceries,” the Harris-Walz campaign wrote in the policy pitch, released about six weeks before Election Day. ...
Still, Harris would face a tough road to passing any price-gouging legislation in Congress, and it’s still not clear how cracking down on price increases would work in practice.
More vague generalities. That's all she's got, folks.

More than 13,000 convicted illegal alien killers now walk among us, NBC/CNBC pretend it's not just a problem for Biden-Harris, omitting that they more than doubled the "non-detained docket" in the US to more than 7.5 million
It is not clear when the first migrant of the 13,000 crossed into the U.S. Two
law enforcement officials familiar with the data told NBC News many of
the migrants on ICE’s non-detained docket, including serious criminals,
crossed into the U.S. under previous administrations, including former President Donald Trump’s. ... There are currently more than 7.5 million immigrants on ICE’s
“non-detained” docket, meaning they have pending immigration cases but
are not currently in detention.
More.
Fox has the truth:
The agency provided data to Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, about illegal immigrants with criminal charges or convictions. The data, as of July 2024, is broken down by those in detention and those who are not in detention, known as the non-detained docket.
The non-detained docket includes noncitizens who have final orders of removal or are going through removal proceedings but are not in ICE custody.
There are more than 7.4 million people on that docket, up from around 3.7 million when former President Trump left office.
