The record gold close for now was 2188.60 on Monday 3/11/24

OMG California still not done counting Super Tuesday vote nine days later

Unlike most polling in other states showing Trump well ahead when third party candidates are included FOX has Trump and Biden even in a 5-way in Pennsylvania

 The poll is here.

At the border, or nah?

  • Kamala Harris is a millstone hung around shuffling Joe Biden's neck with 52% net disapproval in latest USA Today poll

Inflation more durable than policymakers had anticipated, Joe Biden most hurt

This week provided a reminder that inflation isn’t going away anytime soon :

The bad news began Monday when a New York Federal Reserve survey showed the consumer expectations over the longer term had accelerated in February. It continued Tuesday with news that consumer prices rose 3.2% from a year ago, and then culminated Thursday with a release indicating that pipeline pressures at the wholesale level also are heating up. ...

The latest jolt on inflation came Thursday when the Labor Department reported that the producer price index, a forward-looking measure of pipeline inflation at the wholesale level, showed a 0.6% increase in February. That was double the Dow Jones estimate and pushed the 12-month level up 1.6%, the biggest move since September 2023.

Scott McConnell: Joe Biden has had his hair on fire for NATO enlargement since at least 1998

Anatol Lieven has pointed out that not a single hawk during the Reagan era (which today’s Democrats pretend to respect in counterpoint today’s America First Republicans) imagined bringing Crimea under NATO jurisdiction and evicting the Russian fleet from Sevastopol would be a desirable or feasible goal for the West. ...

One can go back to the 1998 Senate debate over NATO enlargement, won inevitably by the side promising greater profits for the military industrial complex, to see its contours. That debate was spirited, and we might take solace from the fact (unlike the present) that it took place at all.

Opposing NATO expansion, Senator Daniel Moynihan, the last intellectual in American politics, warned “We’re walking into ethnic historical enmities. We have no idea what we’re getting into.” Taking Moynihan’s side, Republican senator John Warner of Virginia warned of antagonizing Russia by building an “iron ring” around it. And from whom came the most strident objection to Warner and Moynihan? According to the New York Times, Joseph Biden, “took the floor and erupted…stalking the Senate floor, flailing his arms….”

Straight men still call all the shots, they're just more perverted now

The percentage of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer adults in the U.S. continues to increase, reaching an all-time high of 7.6% in 2023, according to a new Gallup report. Broken down by gender, the survey of 12,000 people 18 and older across the country found that women were nearly twice as likely as men to identify as LGBTQ.

“Almost 30% of Gen Z women identify as LGBTQ+, most as bisexual,” Jeffrey Jones, a senior editor at Gallup, told NBC News. “That’s where a lot of the growth seems to be happening.” ...

The group most likely to identify as LGBTQ, by far, was Generation Z women (ages 18 to 26), 28.5% of whom identified as LGBTQ in the survey. The lion’s share of them, of all Gen Z women surveyed, 20.7%, identified as bisexual, followed by 5.4% who identified as lesbians. Gen Z women were nearly three times more likely than Gen Z men to identify as LGBTQ. ...

Bisexuals made up the highest percentage of LGBTQ respondents, at 57.3% — or 4.4% of all adults surveyed. ...

“It’s important how much the LGBTQ community is bisexual, and that’s definitely something we see among the younger generations,” Jones said.

“I am a practicing Christian. I am an ordained minister and was a senior pastor for many years,” he noted [in 2020] in response to the blowback and alleged death threats he received for his condemnation of “white Jesus.” King defended his comments, doubling down on his belief that “Christian whiteness has ALWAYS been dangerous.”

Joe Biden, president of the United States, asks Pennsylvanians to send him back to Congress one day after his March 7 SOTU address lol

Is he running for a House seat or a Senate seat?

    Here.

    There were also these whoppers:

"We added more to the national debt than any president in his term in all of history!"

"The U.S. Capitol — the same building where our freedoms came under assault on July the 6th!"

Biden says almost every world leader has grabbed his arm, pulled him aside, and said "you can't win again".

Having fewer children per family means having fewer rebel last borns and the more docile, compliant, trusting population we have today instead

Having fewer children per family means having fewer rebel last borns in society and therefore the more docile, compliant, trusting population we have today, which is more easily led and misled.

Weimar America: Every restaurant is going to become a Wendy's, destroying a decade-old meme

Get ready to pay "market price" at more and more restaurants as docile younger adults are just fine with it.

Pretty insane that every transaction in America is going to become a negotiation. It's a hamburger, dammit, not a 2024 Honda.

This is not progress. This is America becoming a third world bazaar.

    The Wall Street Journal reports:

Surge Pricing Is Coming to More Menus Near You

Dozens of restaurant brands use Juicer’s technology to change their prices based on demand trends, with an average swing of up to 15%, Patterson said. Delivery services such as Uber Eats and technology platforms like Tock also allow restaurants to bump prices up or down. ...

An estimated 61% of adults support variable pricing where a restaurant lowers or raises prices based on business, with younger consumers more in favor of the approach than older ones, according to an online survey of 1,000 people by the National Restaurant Association trade group.

Adam Shifty Schiff may live to regret painting popular nice guy Steve Garvey as a MAGA boogeyman come November

Four days after the primary election we've gone from 49% counted to 69% counted with Garvey still holding his own against the candidate crowned by Nancy Pelosi.

On the one hand one should be encouraged by Garvey's surprising competitiveness in this blue state.

On the other this is a bad omen for November vote fraud planning by Democrats to make sure the Feinstein seat remains Democrat.

You should read The Untold History of the Biden Family about Joe's so-called middle class dad

It's a doozy, in The New Yorker no less, here, August 15, 2022:

Relatively little has been known about the President’s father, whose story reveals a family’s fraught relationship with money, class, and alcohol.

Commenter at Real Clear astounded by Biden's attempt to minimize Laken Riley's murder

He spoke her name: Laken Riley. And then he said, "How many people are killed by illegals?" Apparently not enough to be of any concern to him. I think that was the most astounding comment he made this evening. It should trouble every American.

    -- Tony Siciliano, here

The contrast is with the concern Biden supposedly has for individual women he showcased whose reproductive freedoms have been curtailed.

Some individuals are more important than others to Joe Biden.

The official transcript of Biden's SOTU address at Time Magazine contains neither Biden's intimidation of the Supreme Court over abortion nor his calling Laken Riley, killed by one of Joe's illegal aliens, "Lincoln"

     Look it up.

Joe Biden wants children to read by 3rd grade

Shouldn't they be reading in Kindergarten? Mine were.

Why do Democrats have such low expectations for public education?

I want to expand high-quality tutoring and summer learning time and see to it that every child learns to read by third grade.

Biden wants to build a port for Gaza for relief shipments even though Hamas is still holding American citizens hostage to this day

     Assuming they are still alive.

The conflict between the facts and this new proposal is jarring to say the least:

Here in the chamber tonight are American families whose loved ones are still being held by Hamas.

I pledge to all the families that we will not rest until we bring their loved ones home. ...

Hamas could end this conflict today by releasing the hostages, laying down arms, and surrendering those responsible for October 7th. ...

Tonight, I’m directing the U.S. military to lead an emergency mission to establish a temporary pier in the Mediterranean on the Gaza coast that can receive large ships carrying food, water, medicine and temporary shelters.

I remember when Americans held hostage by Muslims in Iran was a crisis which toppled a president. Now hardly anyone gives a fig because they're Jews.

Hamas protestors delayed POTUS' motorcade to SOTU address, an official proceeding, not White Rural Rage

But they won't be arrested and locked up like January Sixers.

Obama's war on coal has resulted in the elimination of electrical generation capacity equivalent to the entire nuclear power sector, and these idiots wonder how America ended up running out of electricity

Starting from 2012 and going through 2022, ~ 106 GW of coal-fired capacity was eliminated in the US.

Of the ~ 200 GW remaining, ~ 23% is scheduled to be eliminated through 2029.

Meanwhile China just builds and builds and builds new coal-fired capacity. It now has at least 1,109 GW of coal-fired capacity, five times more than the US.

California is the poster child of failed democracy

     The primary was yesterday.

The UK, with a population more than twice the size of California, would have had the entire vote for any race counted within hours.

But California has made no progress since this morning.

In the crucial race for US Senate, California has made almost ZERO progress after twelve hours.

This is how you create the conditions to tamper with the vote. You get people accustomed to delays like today time after time so that people tire of raising any objections. And then boom! you steal the election when you need to because it took forever last time, why not THIS time?

At 8:34am, the New York Times reported 48% of the vote counted in the US Senate race:

Tonight, at 8:53pm, they've made it up 1 point to 49% counted:

Gold marched to another new nominal high closing price yesterday 3/5/24: $2,141.90 the ounce

The best thing about today is that Representative Batgirl (CA-47) is history

That's so California right there lol: Adam Shifty Schiff is unflappable and polite, also the man who regularly insulted Trump on social media

     From the LA Times here:

Instead [disgruntled Porter supporter Katie Loss, 69] is supporting Schiff, who she said she has long admired for his intelligence, his more than 20 years of experience in Washington and his willingness to stand up to Trump. And, she said, his polite, unflappable demeanor is "badly needed in the Senate."

    Three paragraphs later:

Still, Schiff — through his role as a House impeachment manager and regular appearances on cable news — was the most visible and forceful foil to Trump, who regularly called him out at rallies and insulted him on social media.

Meanwhile, just 48% of the vote in California, tech capital of the world, is counted this morning:

AOC gets it from both ends: Pro-Hamas protestors ambush her outside theatre for refusing to say "genocide" after fed up heckler accused her in February of selling out New Yorkers to Biden's illegal alien invasion

     Very amusing.

    Story here.

FOIA lawsuit reveals Biden used taxpayer money to fly 320,000 illegal aliens directly from their home countries into the US in 2023

Use of a cell phone app has allowed for the near undetected arrival by air of 320,000 aliens with no legal rights to enter the United States.

It comes after a controversy over a 2022 transportation program in which the administration used taxpayers money to move migrants throughout the country on overnight flights.

Included in details of a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit first reported by Todd Bensman, the Center for Immigration Studies found Biden's CBP approved the latest secretive flights that transported hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants from foreign countries into at least 43 different American airports from January through December 2023.

    The whole thing is here.

Justin Amash flip-flops, announces he's running as a Republican for the US Senate from Michigan after leaving the Republican Party in 2019

So now we have two guys who hate Trump, Justin Amash and Peter Meijer, running for retiring Democrat Debbie Stabenow's seat, and FBI goon Mike Rogers, the current favorite.

    Story here

Last September I predicted he'd run, except as a spoiler for the Libertarian Party.

This is just more evidence that he has never been the consistent libertarian he has claimed to be. He's nothing but a climber, like all the rest.

Core inflation measure for January 2024 is . . . not good

Year over year we're still at 2.8%, still well above 2.0.

The monthly pop of .4% is high relative to anything in the last year.

The .5 change in the index was . . . pretty dang big.

The drive by media always spins this as "expected" when consensus estimates are confirmed, but that doesn't make them good.

We have the Napoleon wannabe in Paris, Emmanuel Macron, threatening to send in NATO troops, to thank for Putin's explicit threat to use nuclear weapons

Referring to French President Emmanuel Macron’s refusal to rule out sending western troops to Ukraine this week, Putin said Russia remembered “the fate of those who once sent their contingents to our country. “Now the consequences for possible interveners will be much more tragic,” he added. “We also have weapons that can strike targets on their territory.”

    CNBC similarly here:

The comments appeared to be a direct response to French President Emmanuel Macron’s suggestion earlier this week that European heads of state and Western officials, who had met in Paris on Monday, had talked about the possibility of sending ground troops into Ukraine.

The French leader on Monday said there was no consensus on the idea, but that it had not been “ruled out.”

The comments have since sent NATO countries scrambling to deny they’d send troops into Ukraine, with Russia warning that such a deployment would prompt an “inevitable” Russia-NATO conflict.

Biden surrendered Afghanistan to the terrorists of the Taliban, backs two wars in Israel and Ukraine which risk world war with Russia and maybe China, but Americans think Trump is dangerous

Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll of nearly 5,000 (all online smh):

Less than half of respondents said his almost-certain rival, 77-year-old Donald Trump, was too old. Still, Trump faces his own vulnerabilities with swing-state voters, with a majority saying the former president is dangerous. ...

Almost six in 10 swing-state voters labeled Trump as dangerous — a concern far more pronounced among undecided voters, who make up less than one-tenth of the swing-state electorate. Even 28% of those who plan to vote for him in November agree that Trump is dangerous. Fewer than half as many Biden supporters said the same about their candidate.

Swing-state voters who volunteered that they had heard something about his recent comments degrading NATO were especially lopsided in thinking Trump was the more dangerous of the two candidates.

RFK Jr. is on the ballot in AZ, GA, UT, NH, and HI so far

The states Kennedy remains focused on are Michigan, another key battleground state, Maryland, South Carolina, West Virginia, Indiana, Texas, Illinois, New York, California, and Massachusetts . . ..

    More.

My candidate in the Michigan GOP presidential primary finished in the top 1.2% of the field lol

Yes, I'm well aware he dropped out and endorsed Trump.

Turn out was pretty pathetic in Michigan, despite mail-in voting and early in person voting up to 29 days in advance.

Combined turnout for the two parties was less than 23% of the 8.275 million registered voters.

The Hamas vote racked up a big protest vote against Joe Biden of more than 100k.

Uncommitted Republican votes of 33k+ must be the small L libertarians? Social conservatives could vote happily for Ron DeSantis.

Meanwhile Nikki Haley attracted 293k of the AWFLs, most of whom were Democrat voters.

The primary is well nigh useless as an indicator of much of anything since all you have to do is check the Republican box or the Democrat box when you appear and you are given the appropriate ballot. There is no party "registration". You are what you say you are, but every man is a liar (Romans 3:4).

Senator Mitch McConnell, 82, will step down from his GOP leadership position in November

WASHINGTON (AP) — Mitch McConnell, the longest-serving Senate leader in history who maintained his power in the face of dramatic convulsions in the Republican Party for almost two decades, will step down from that position in November. ...

McConnell’s path to power was hardly linear, but from the day he walked onto the Senate floor in 1985 and took his seat as the most junior Republican senator, he set his sights on being the party leader. What set him apart was that so many other Senate leaders wanted to run for president. McConnell wanted to run the Senate. He lost races for lower party positions before steadily ascending, and finally became party leader in 2006 and has won nine straight elections.

    More.

Mitch was 64 when he took over in 2006.

Senator John Thune, 63, is a favorite to succeed him.
