So far today I've heard Pence live on segments with Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage and Sean Hannity.

Joe Pags thinks "not in the labor force" does not include the retired, but it does

It's shocking how many people still think, wrongly, that "not in the labor force" includes huge numbers of people who could be or should be working but aren't.

Today on his show Joe Pags said the number not in the labor force, currently over 94 million, does not include retired people, when, for example in 2014 the retired constituted 44% of those "not in the labor force". The truth is the retired always constitute the single largest proportion of those "not in the labor force".

The sick and disabled in 2014 accounted for almost 19%, and people going to school made up another 18% of the total "not in the labor force". Tell me there are some claiming disability who don't have one who should be working, but don't tell me the damn kids should be working. 15.5% were homemakers while 3.5% had other reasons. There's probably many people in these categories who might want a job but can't find one, or ought to be working but aren't, but nothing even remotely close to the almost 39 million retired at the time.

Joe Pags joins a long list of idiots who are quite outspoken in their ignorance about this, including Zero Hedge, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Donald Trump, et alia. Thinking there might be vast numbers of hidden unemployed in "not in the labor force" is just plain lazy stupid.

None of these apparently have had the slightest interest in checking this out on Al Gore's amazing internet using the google machine, which takes you to this page at the Bureau of Labor Statistics with one of the better explanations out there.

I can only conclude the ignorance in the case of Joe Pags is willful because Joe Pags is smarter than that. But then again, he thinks Ted Cruz is a natural born citizen.

His bad.

Did Trump orchestrate the whole "softening" on deportation to get a meeting with Nieto?

A week after new campaign leadership was installed on August 17, Donald Trump infamously softened his deportation plans in a town hall in Austin, Texas with Sean Hannity on August 24. On the 22nd Trump had already postponed his speech on immigration planned for that week in Colorado. Panic struck some of his core supporters.

Suddenly Trump was the center of a hubbub, as he had been so many times before, over whether his followers would finally abandon him because of the immigration waffling.

Within two days he received an invitation from the president of Mexico Pena Nieto to come for a visit. That was the 26th. The same day he also said it might be two weeks instead of one before he would give his immigration speech.

Was the invitation offered because of the "softening"? Or maybe Trump just lucked out on the timing.

In either event, by the 30th Trump accepted the invitation of Nieto, and visited him yesterday the 31st, after which he delivered the immigration speech ahead of schedule, in Arizona, in which an expanded deportation force is tasked with focusing on the criminal illegal presence in the United States, not on the 11 million illegals as a whole. The meeting with Nieto elevated Trump's profile as a serious leader on the foreign stage, and the granularity of the immigration speech impresses just about everyone on the right who is familiar with the issues.

The country, and especially the media, were riveted by these events, and Trump was able to get his message out on the subject of illegal immigration, by-passing the media filter, in a way he hasn't been able to since the debates ended in March.

Combined with improving poll numbers at the same time, Trump is successfully building woefully needed momentum to kick off September.

There appears to be method to the madness.

Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity keep misrepresenting Marco Rubio as a conservative. Little Marco's actions even now prove otherwise.

Ted Cruz currently has 226 delegates committed to him. This is 33% of the 688 already allocated in the contests to date.

Cruz still needs 1011 delegates to get to 1237, which is 57% of the 1784 delegates still up for grabs, not 33%.

Ted Cruz is going to ramp up his support by 24 points in all the future contests? I don't think so. Improving his wins by 73% is not in the cards.

Ted Cruz needs to think about an eventual alliance, or hope for a brokered convention.

IBD doesn't mention Laura Ingraham, who is favorably disposed toward Trump because of the illegal immigration problem in the United States, nor Michael Savage, who has actually endorsed Trump, nor Sean Hannity, who pretends like Limbaugh to be non-partisan during the primaries but repeatedly asserts that Marco Rubio will be president one day.

Rush Limbaugh did his best to cover for Ted Cruz today by not mentioning the bombshell story which should persuade every honest observer that Ted Cruz is a lying sack of shit.

Real Clear Politics had video of the story here for at least 11 hours already, but Rush wouldn't touch it today.

As far as I can tell, neither did Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity nor Mark Levin, whose shows I could not listen to in their entirety. However Mark Levin spent considerable time ridiculing Karl Rove in the second half hour for some reason, but you can guess why.

Cruz to Hannity in April 2013: Citizenship is designed to be a poison pill to scuttle the whole Gang of Eight bill

"I think the reason that President Obama is insisting on a path to citizenship is that it is designed to be a poison pill to scuttle the whole bill, so he can have a political issue in 2014 and 2016. I think that's really unfortunate," continued Cruz. ...

"If he actually really wanted to get something passed, he wouldn't be rolling this out as a partisan attack issue," Cruz said. "You look at the State of the Union, that was a divisive speech, that was in your face. And he knows full well that a path to citizenship won't pass the House."

"Look, they have the votes to force something through the Senate. I think whatever mess comes out of the so-called Gang of Eight, all or virtually all of the Democrats will vote for it and it's likely they'll get a fair number of Republicans to vote for it to so they can probably get it through the Senate," Cruz added. "If it includes a path to citizenship, I don't think it'll pass the House, and I think that's exactly what the Obama White House wants."

Cruz is crazy now to characterize his amendment to the bill at the time as "the poison pill" when he was calling the citizenship provisions of the Gang of Eight bill the poison pill.

If anyone has become unhinged in this race Jeb, it's Ted Cruz. Even Mona Charen thinks Ted Cruz meant to come off as sincere in 2013. We aren't left wondering only what Marco Rubio believes about the issue, but also what Ted Cruz really believes.

Safe to say few wonder what Donald Trump really believes about illegal immigration.

Sean Hannity the hypocrite: Shocked Rand Paul criticizes Ted Cruz while the three of them have ripped fellow Republicans for years

Well, I say "fellow Republican" advisedly. What they are is libertarians, and put three libertarians in a room, or 300, all you'll get is dissension.

Sean Hannity isn't a Republican, by his own admission, but likes to play in its sandbox. Rand Paul is self-consciously "purple", imagining that right and left can be united as libertarians as opposed to remaining separated as conservatives and liberals. And Ted Cruz' behavior in the Senate makes him a RINO, at least from the RINOS' perspective.
