Beside all that, Trump is just poaching again. 

Florida still needs Ron DeSantis, especially to appoint the replacement for the already poached Senator Marco Rubio. One bad decision leads to another.

Can't Trump find anyone else? Isn't this just more evidence of how few quality people find serving in this lame duck presidency an attractive prospect?

Ron DeSantis should also think long and hard about having to defend everything Trump for four years, quite apart from defending the United States, if he's still serious about a 2028 run. He ran against Trump in the primaries, after all, for reasons.

I think this story is more of a trial balloon, an advertisement: "Hey out there! Anyone interested in the job? Help! I gotta get rid of Pete! Please step up!"

The US Senate Republican election of John Thune over John Cornyn and Rick Scott to Majority Leader isn't surprising except to MAGAs who can't imagine that Thune beat Trump in South Dakota by 37,785 votes in 2016

 Thune has been dutifully serving Mitch McConnell for years and has the seniority and credibility demanded by his colleagues.

Garcia in CA-27 from 49.6 to 49.1

Steel in CA-45 from 51.3 to 51.1

 

Republicans currently lead in 5 of the 10 undecided races. If they win all those, they'll have 222 in the House.

But of course subtract Stefanik, and you are left with 221 GOP to advance President Trump's agenda in the first 100 days when 218 are needed. 

Again, this was not a Republican "sweep", "a great realignment", a MAGA movement revolution, or any of the rubbish we're hearing from the cheering section.

This is just more of the same on the House side, where the GOP majority is 220.
