If true Politico story means Ted Cruz is soft enough on illegal immigration to unite with Gang of Eighter Marco Rubio

Politico reports here that Cruz' people have been pursuing an alliance with Marco Amnesty Rubio for weeks, and more than that:

Over the last week, according to a person familiar with the Cruz team's internal deliberations, the campaign has conducted polling in forthcoming contests — including ... the one on Tuesday in Utah — in which questions are posed about the two running side-by-side.

Ted Cruz' many flipflops: Obamatrade, foreign workers, illegal alien amnesty, birthright citizenship, Edward Snowden, crop insurance

Nicely detailed with links by Laura Ingraham, here.

John Kasich would legalize all illegals within the first 100 days of his presidency, which would open the floodgates to millions more

Noted here in a list of all Kasich's extreme positions on illegal immigration:

In last Thursday’s CNN debate, Kasich told voters that he would enact the largest amnesty in U.S. history within his first 100 days in office. “For the 11 and a half million who are here, then in my view if they have not committed a crime since they’ve been here, they get a path to legalization. Not to citizenship. I believe that program can pass the Congress in the first 100 days,” Kasich said.

Trump is deliberately not countering opposition TV ads on TV, using Facebook and Twitter instead: Huge mistake?

He's also using ads during conservative talk radio programs, but overall his is a very risky strategy which may already explain why Trump is not farther ahead than he should be.

This may spell big trouble, dead ahead.

Facebook and Twitter require active participation. Television is passive and reaches more people. Facebook is ubiquitous but the irony is the owner is the big player behind the amnesty enemy. And Twitter is a sewer dominated by the thug left. They'll never vote for him anyway. At best he communicates effectively only with those who already support him.

Trump is proud of winning on a dime against losers like Bush who spent millions, but I don't think the strategy is sustainable.

This is crunch time, and Trump's not crunching.

Ted Cruz is a "me too" wall builder and is soft on illegal immigration: Trump's central ideas in June 2015 speech predate Cruz' by five months

Noted here:

Cruz unveiled his immigration plan in November, the first plank of which is to "build a wall that works" — a suggestion that his call for more border agents, surveillance and biometric entry-exit tracking is simply a more sophisticated version of Trump's blunt-force proposals. "The unsecured border with Mexico invites illegal immigrants, criminals, and terrorists to tread on American soil. I will complete the wall," the plan says in yet another nod to Trump.

Not only did it take five months for Cruz to copy Trump's ideas, the only wall Ted Cruz ever mentioned in his own speech announcing his run for president in March 2015 was the Berlin Wall.

Securing the border is just a one-liner in the speech among many other one-liners, and unlike Trump Cruz emphasized legal immigration in the speech, a nod to his long-suspected softness on the issue:

(APPLAUSE)

Imagine abolishing the IRS.

(APPLAUSE)

Instead of the lawlessness and the president’s unconstitutional executive amnesty, imagine a president that finally, finally, finally secures the borders.

(APPLAUSE)

And imagine a legal immigration system that welcomes and celebrates those who come to achieve the American dream.

(APPLAUSE)

Instead of a federal government that wages an assault on our religious liberty, that goes after Hobby Lobby, that goes after . . ..

Remembrance Project says Marco Rubio is the single most egregious promoter of open borders in Congress

A Voice for the Victims Killed by illegal aliens

February 28, 2016

Open Letter to All GOP Voters

Dear Republican Voter:

We write to you today as American citizens, and as The Remembrance Project’s “stolen lives” families who have lost our children, siblings, parents and other close family members to senseless illegal alien killings.   To bury your own child or loved one causes a pain beyond description or imagination, and a suffering we will carry every day of our lives.

As surviving families, we ask “Why was this allowed to be done to our innocent loved ones?”  The inconvenient truth is that we have been betrayed by politicians who have not merely failed, but who have intentionally refused to enforce our immigration laws that would protect our families.  Consequently, the people we so dearly loved have been sacrificed, many murdered in cold blood, by violent criminal illegal aliens who should never have been allowed into our communities.

Sadly, the single most egregious Congressional promoter of open borders is GOP Senator Marco Rubio.  As a key member of the notorious “immigration reform” Gang of Eight committee, Rubio’s amnesty plan was hatched, not only to give mass amnesty to illegals, but was done through daily lies about its contents:

·      Rubio boldly claimed it was security first - but it was amnesty first, security never.

·      Rubio said no amnesty for criminals - but in reality it allowed amnesty to some of the most dangerous criminals in America.

·      Rubio said it was the toughest bill ever - it was the worst bill ever, supported by virtually every open borders politicians inside and outside Congress.

Through this process, Senator Rubio steadfastly ignored our families and the warnings of law enforcement.  Not once did he reach out to our families, or other families whose loved ones’ were killed by the illegal aliens.  In the aftermath of 2013, and even today, each time Rubio has a chance to do something on behalf of American victims, he chooses instead to push amnesty and side with open borders and foreign interests to make life harder and more dangerous for law-abiding American families.

We do not want other families to die at the hands of illegal aliens.  We want to end the massacre of innocents in exchange for enriching open border self-interest cartels.  We are pleading with the Republican voter:  Reject Rubio.

Send a message to every politician in Washington D.C.: if you betray American citizens, you will never occupy the Oval Office.

Sincerely,

Senator Ben Sasse, race-baiting, lying liberal suck-up who believes in amnesty for illegal aliens

Interviewed here:

CHUCK TODD: I believe you are the only Republican [senator] right now who was said you will not vote for Donald Trump under any circumstances...

SEN. BEN SASSE (R-NE): . . . This guy believes in abortion on demand, this guy says that he hates the concept of guns, this guy's been for single-payer health care, he's for a $6 trillion tax increase. ... [W]hen you listen to Donald Trump, all you really hear is more Donald Trump, more tear it down, and a lot of praise of foreign dictators. ... [Y]ou did a great service to people by talking about the history of the Whigs and the Republicans. This is, in some ways, an 1860 moment. ... [I]f this becomes the Donald Trump/David Duke party, there are a lot of us who are out.

Mark Levin's Conservative Review gives Ben Sasse an "A" rating:

Sasse also supports legal status for illegal immigrants.

When Marco Rubio was city commissioner of West Miami in 1998 he voted for Honduran amnesty

Reported here:

While serving as a city commissioner in West Miami, Marco Rubio voted in favor of a city resolution urging the federal government to give Honduran illegal immigrants permanent resident status and free them from risk of deportation, according to documents obtained by The Daily Caller.

So that pushes back the timeline of his pro-amnesty sympathies to before 2006 when he was Speaker of the Florida House all the way to 1998.

Marco Rubio was in the tank for illegal immigrants before he became the junior senator from Florida

From a Politico story in March 2010 here which should have put off Republicans on his candidacy but didn't:

A leader for a progressive group that used to heap praise on Rubio says there’s been a clear change in his approach to complex issues. Arturo Vargas, the executive director for the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, said Rubio, the son of Cuban exiles born in Miami, blocked “scorched-earth” legislation that sought to clamp down on illegal immigration. “He, as speaker, kept many of those from coming up to a vote,” Vargas said. “We were very proud of his work as speaker of the House.” In 2006, Rubio even voted for a bill that would have allowed the children of illegal immigrants to pay the same tuition rates at Florida colleges as residents.

Vargas now says Rubio, the candidate, takes a more pointed, less nuanced tone as he stresses border enforcement and his opposition to amnesty. “He’s become your typical candidate in terms of playing to his primary election base,” Vargas said, acknowledging he’s more disappointed than surprised.

Phyllis Schlafly slams Marco Rubio as an agent of the Republican establishment who has wanted amnesty all along

Here:

“When Marco Rubio ran for the Senate in Florida, I think I was the first one to endorse him."

“I made a trip down to Florida in 2009 just for the purpose of helping him.”

“Once he got elected, he betrayed us all."

“He said he was against amnesty and against the establishment. And once he got in, right away, he became an agent of the establishment. And now, of course, he’s big for amnesty and letting all the illegal immigrants in. He betrayed us a number of times on that issue.”

“Immigration right now is the biggest issue. All you need to do is look at Europe, and you can see that."

“But there are other issues like trade where Rubio has aligned with the establishment against the American worker.”

"Trade is a big issue."

"The whole thing with how they are pushing these trade agreements and mass immigration is a cheat and a lie to the American people. And Rubio has joined the group that is pushing it."

FOX's Frank Luntz was paid over $345,000 by Florida's Republican Party when Marco Rubio was Speaker of the Florida House

Story here, questioning Luntz's objectivity in his current role praising Rubio in the debates.

Luntz was caught in an audio recording in 2013 complaining that conservative radio talkers Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin were destroying Rubio over the Gang of Eight immigration amnesty bill which Rubio co-sponsored.

It's safe to say that Luntz has been loyal to Rubio for a long time for a reason.

Santorum drops out of GOP presidential primary, endorses RUBIO

CNN has the story here.

That tells you what kind of president Santorum would have made: A president who, like Rubio, would have settled for the Gang of Eight amnesty bill because it was all he could get at the time.

Rush Limbaugh can protest all he wants about Rubio giving up his Senate seat as a sign he's not committed to time-serving the establishment. The truth is as president Rubio would disappoint on illegal immigration to the point of destroying the Republican Party and the country as we have known it.

Establishment support for Rubio will now accelerate. The conservative vote will be split between Cruz and Trump.

Rubio will win the nomination like Romney did, through attrition on the right as neither Trump nor Cruz wins enough delegates to secure the nomination just as Santorum and Gingrich and Paul did not.

In this election, Ted Cruz, the illegal immigration flip-flopper, will be Donald Trump's spoiler.

In the immortal words of Mickey Kaus, Cruz is just in it for Cruz.

Politico agrees Rand Paul "eviscerated" Ted Cruz on amnesty

Cruz once filed an amendment to Rubio’s bill that would have created a path to “legalization,” but he has argued that it was really a poison pill designed to kill reform. Last night, though, Kelly effectively quashed that argument, playing several clips of Cruz insisting that he did want reform to pass. “Was that all an act?” Kelly asked him. “It was pretty convincing!” After Cruz flailed around for a few minutes, arguing that it was unfair for Kelly to focus on 38 words in a 1,000-page bill, Kelly turned to Rand Paul, yet another frequent target of Trump’s barbs. “Senator Paul, you know how Washington works,” she said. “Do you buy that?”

Paul—who has denounced Trump as unfit for office, and who has been mocked by Trump for his poll numbers and even his looks—obligingly continued the evisceration of Cruz. “He can’t have it both ways,” he said. “What is particularly insulting is, he’s the king of saying ‘You’re for amnesty.’ Everyone’s for amnesty except for Ted Cruz. But it’s a falseness, and that’s an authenticity problem … I was for legalization. So was Ted—but now he says he wasn’t. That’s not true.”

The amnesty of a lesser god: Senator Rand Paul eviscerated Ted Cruz who was for legalization of illegal immigrants in 2013

From the transcript of last night's debate, here, where Senator Rand Paul called BS on Cruz' poison pill argument and showed that Cruz was sincerely for legalization, a lesser form of amnesty but an amnesty no less:

PAUL: I was there and I saw the debate. I saw Ted Cruz say, "we'll take citizenship off the table, and then the bill will pass, and I'm for the bill."

The bill would involve legalization. He can't have it both ways. But what is particularly insulting, though, is that he is the king of saying, "you're for amnesty." Everybody's for amnesty except for Ted Cruz.

But it's a falseness, and that's an authenticity problem -- that everybody he knows is not as perfect as him because we're all for amnesty. I was for legalization. I think, frankly, if you have border security, you can have legalization. So was Ted, but now he says it wasn't so. That's not true.

---------------------------------------------------------

Trump not participating last night did two useful things:

It made the debate Pig Pile on Cruz night.

And it gave Rand Paul a spot to come back to the main stage and make this argument.

Trump wins again.

Obama ties military's hands with stricter rules of engagement than the law of war requires or even France follows, leaflets the enemy before attacking

From the story here on Christmas Eve:

"We will do everything we can to prevent civilian casualties," said Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren on Wednesday. ... Donatella Rovera, senior crisis response adviser at Amnesty International, said the leaflet drops actually started last week, but it has been difficult for people to leave.  ... The Obama administration has come under fire from critics for adhering to restrictive rules of engagement and trying to avoid any civilian casualties in the fight against ISIS. Some say the rules are allowing ISIS fighters to escape.  ... A U.S. defense official said the current U.S. rules of engagement for airstrikes, which are more restrictive than what the law of war requires, would remain the same as Iraqi forces push into Ramadi. Other coalition members — such as France — adhere to looser rules of engagement, however, and it's not clear who will be doing the striking in Ramadi.

From one imbecile to another: John McLaughlin in an oversized jacket awards "Person of the Year" to FBI Director James Comey

The jacket John has worn for years for this annual occasion now hangs like a bag on his shrinking frame.

James Comey testified recently before the US Senate to Lindsey Grahamnesty that he has no idea how weapons purchased over the internet reach their buyers.

And neither does Lindsey.

Lindsey Grahamnesty drops out of the race for the presidency: hits the Trump wall

Graham never polled above 1.0% in the Real Clear Politics poll average. He quits polling just 0.5% in the average, which is quitting while he's ahead. Some weeks his poll average was 0.0%.

Rand Paul agrees with us: Ted Cruz' 2013 amendment was NOT "the poison pill" and seriously intended legalization of illegal aliens

Rand Paul, quoted here:

"Without question, Rubio and Cruz have been for amnesty," Paul told The Washington Post in a call with reporters today. "It’s kind of a silly debate. The amendment Cruz put forward was not intended to be a poison pill. It was for legalization." ... "I think Cruz is being disingenuous and not honestly describing what he did," Paul said. "He’s wanting to have it both ways. I don’t think there’s any contemporary evidence he was putting forward something he didn’t believe in. It makes you wonder whether or not we can take him at face value on other issues."
