It's still the party of FDR, who turned away the M.S. St. Louis in 1939 and a third of its passengers ended up murdered in the camps

Yesterday's obnoxious Nazi Barbie is 2023's Person of the Year

Time.

2015 here:

Camille Paglia has written a scathing critique of Taylor Swift, referring to the singer as an “obnoxious Nazi Barbie” whose “twinkly persona is such a scary flashback to the fascist blondes who ruled the social scene during my youth”.

Kiev mayor Vitali Klitschko agrees with Ukraine's military commander in chief General Valerii Zaluzhnyi against Zelensky that the war with Russia is at a stalemate

But despite his litany of grievances, the mayor stopped short of calling for Zelensky’s immediate ouster. “The president has an important function today, and we have to support him until the end of the war,” Klitschko said. “But at the end of this war, every politician will pay for his successes or failures.”

Poor Hunter Biden, he went from a $142k Porsche from Kazakhstan in April 2014 to borrowing dough from Joe for a Ford Raptor in January 2019 lol

 Story.

Four gold bars in possession of Senator Bob Menendez traced to 2013 armed robbery of Fred Daibes, who is accused of bribing Menendez

That's on top of the cash in Menendez' possession which has also been traced to Daibes, but which the senator says he took out of the bank:

Menendez has denied taking payoffs from Daibes even though prosecutors allege testing shows Daibes’ fingerprints and DNA are on some of the tens of thousands of dollars in cash found in Menendez’s home.

“For 30 years, I have withdrawn thousands in cash from my personal savings account, which I have kept for emergencies and because of the history of my family facing confiscation in Cuba,” Menendez said.

Looks like they'll finally get this guy.

They don't call it lala land for nothing

White nationalists say they are against foreign and military aid to Israel, which has averaged about $3.8 billion annually since 1950

According to Richard Spencer and Nick Fuentes, who agree that Trump broke their hymen, being anti-Israel just means you are educated. Being pro-Israel means you are a moron.

For the tax write-off you idiots

Musk can extract the $44 billion price tag for tax loss purposes and relaunch the thing as the everything platform he keeps talking about.

This reminds me of the incredulity of Wall Street over Powell's relentless increases to the Federal Funds Rate. He telegraphed it repeatedly months in advance and then raised rates incrementally and said he would keep doing so, but they would not believe, and still do not.

Florida has been the left's target since the pandemic began because it was an early adopter of lockdown skepticism under DeSantis

Newsom is just full of it, as usual.

California Governor Gavin Newsom, dumbest Democrat politician alive, walks into French Laundry door . . . again

Newsom: “You were a lockdown Governor… you locked down your beaches bars and restaurants… that’s just a fact. He’s running away from his record.”

DeSantis: “He’s imposed restrictions on his own people while exempting himself from those restrictions and going to the French Laundry while his people were suffering.”

Core pce inflation, which excludes food and energy measures, is still high at 3.5% year over year in October 2023, down 0.2 points from September or 5.4%

Price increases at 3.5% instead of 3.7% year over year. This level remains outside of most people's experience since the late 1990s.

The broad measure fell to 3.0% from 3.4%. The energy goods and services component yoy has been negative, that is deflationary, for eight months in a row. The food component was up 2.0% year over year in October but is now in its tenth month of declines out of twelve on a year over year measure monthly.

Declining energy input costs have been the story behind declining inflation measures overall, primarily natural gas which is twice as important to the U.S. economy as gasoline on a BTU basis.

The Biden administration's green energy policy is at war with the reason for the happy circumstance of declining inflation measures it finds itself in, and Biden could be sailing to re-election if he were instead supporting fossil fuel production, which would slay the inflation dragon dead.

The Financial Times lol: Liberal democracy good, conservative democracy bad

Is The Financial Times' coverage worth a pound sterling?

Politico: Northampton County Pennsylvania touchscreen voting machines in 2019 election had reliable paper backups, but not in 2023

The 2019 election was the first time Northampton used the touchscreen voting machines from Election Systems & Software. That year, a programming glitch caused the ES&S machines to significantly undercount the votes for the Democratic candidate in a local judges’ race. Then on Nov. 7 this year, Northampton residents who showed up at their local polling station found that printouts from the same devices didn’t match the votes they had submitted digitally for two down-ballot judges contests. ... “In 2019, when the issues came up with the touchscreens, we were told, ‘Don’t worry about it. The cards are recording the votes,’” Northampton County Republican Committee Chair Glenn Geissinger told POLITICO. “OK, you’re telling me now, in 2023, ‘Don’t worry about what’s printed on the card?’”

Hamas wing at Pennsylvania's Dickinson College goes after Democrat Senator John Fetterman for his unqualified support for Israel

Pennsylvania is home to a large Jewish population. Philadelphia, the state's largest city, has the fifth largest Jewish population in the country, according to the Center for Israel.

The article twice says amusingly that Democrat Representative Rashida Tlaib of Michigan was "censored".

She wasn't. She was censured by the U.S. House of Representatives for what she freely said.

It is unclear from the story whether Mireille Rebeiz, Chair of Middle East Studies and Associate Professor at Dickinson College, Pennsylvania, actually said censored or censured. It is possible she is not correctly quoted. It is also possible she doesn't understand English that well.

Hard to say!

In any event, Newsweek's headline is over the top: "John Fetterman Faces Revolt in Pennsylvania". It's one crank at a college, to which you probably shouldn't send your kid.

"He will not make the laws alone (other parties) will join and they have to cooperate," Kemal Yildiz, 54, said. "It will be fine," Yildiz added.

Cornel West's campaign of all the different voices is just the cacophany you'd expect from the University of Michigan Hospital's ninth floor

In the jazz parlance that West regularly uses to describe his candidacy, the campaign is getting more out and free.

“I am in no way an ordinary politician,” West said. “Therefore, it’s a matter of making sure that we have people in place who are willing to be unorthodox and cut against the grain, organizationally, internally and politically and morally.”

“We want to be jazz-like, in terms of raising all of the different voices,” he added.

Assistant Press Secretary Michael Kikukawa shows that The White House is still Cloud MAGA Cuckoo Land

. . . with inflation still high, interest rates on goods stubbornly through the roof and the housing market hobbling, Biden’s handling of the economy takes hit after hit in polls. Voters say they felt better off financially under his predecessor — whom he will likely meet again in the 2024 general election — leaving Democrats to suggest it’s time for the Biden campaign to change its game on the matter. ...

"We’re working every day to show the American people what President Biden and Congressional Democrats have delivered by lowering prescription drug prices, creating manufacturing jobs, and rebuilding our roads and bridges,” said Michael Kikukawa, assistant White House press secretary.

“That’s Bidenomics, and recent elections have shown that Americans prefer it to trickle-down MAGAnomics. We will continue reaching out to the portion of Americans who are not yet aware of those incredibly popular accomplishments,” he said.

Xi Jinpingpooh masters The Art of Unserious American Political Cycle Maintenance

Gasoline averaged $2.48825/gallon for the four years 2017-2020, which Obama infamously said was impossible

Add in 2015 and 2016 and it averaged $2.42383.

In October 2023 under Obama 2.0 Americans pay 56% more than that.

In October 2023 it still costs 24% more to keep the lights on at home than it did on average for the four years 2017-2020

In October 2023 it still costs 33.26% more to heat your home with natural gas than it did on average for the four years 2017-2020

When you ignore the collection of vermin who paid to eat with Xi

Ramaswamy: You Know What's "Vermin"? What Newsom Cleaned Up In San Francisco For Xi's Visit

Titans of American business pay to have dinner with genocidal dictator Xi Jinping

Elon Musk was there, too, but this story never mentions it:

Xi’s 10 years as president are marked by a genocide against China’s Muslim minority, attempts to wipe out Tibetan culture, and persecution of Christians and followers of Falun Gong – not to mention a crackdown on democracy, religious freedom, and civil rights in Hong Kong.

Yet, during official and unofficial meetings this week, there was no mention of the long list of atrocities. Instead, Xi received an unusually warm reception.

On Wednesday night in the confines of San Francisco’s Hyatt Regency ballroom, America’s corporate chieftains gathered to fete Xi as a “guest of honor” at a banquet drawing nearly 400 attendees. The gala took place on the sidelines of the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, a gathering of 21 member countries to support free trade and business ties.

The executives were so excited to share the room with the Chinese president that they gave him two standing ovations before Xi uttered a word. American titans of business, including Apple’s Tim Cook and Blackstone’s Steve Schwarzman, Black Rock’s Larry Fink, Boeing’s Stanley Deal, and Pfizer’s Albert Bourla, joined Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo to rub shoulders with Xi and a cohort of Chinese officials.

Tickets for the banquet started at $2,000 each, with several companies shelling out $40,000 to buy eight seats at a table in the ballroom and one at Xi’s table. After Xi’s remarks, attendees provided yet another standing ovation, according to Reuters

Some executives made no attempt to hide their gushing. On the way into the Hyatt, Bridgewater Associates hedge fund founder Ray Dalio told the Financial Times that he was “excited to have this relationship [with Xi].”

If Dalio entered the hotel from the main lobby, he couldn’t have avoided the polar opposite scene and messaging. A Tibetan student activist named Tsela had strapped herself to a flagpole and was waving the Tibetan flag when Xi and his entourage arrived. Other activists from Students for a Free Tibet chanted “Murderer” at the Chinese leader, “Down with the CCP,” and “Human Rights in Tibet.”
