LOL, the blog of the St. Louis Fed gaslights you on gasoline prices by jumping through hoops to make the current outrageous prices disappear

While nominal gas prices have increased rapidly over the past few months, real gas prices were still lower than they were for most of the 2006-2014 period.

More in "Gaslighting gas prices", April 21, 2022.

They don't pay those economists the big bucks for nothing:

[W]e compute by dividing the nominal price by the consumer price index (CPI) and multiplying by 127.5, the value of the CPI in January 1990.

Talk about gaslighting.

Look, US Regular All Formulations (GASREGW), which is what the blog post used, peaked around the 4th of July in 2008 around $4.11/gallon.

Here's what a popular inflation calculator says about that:

We estimate it would take $5.54 on June 12, 2022 to have equal purchasing power with $4.11 on July 4, 2008.

Just using a simple CPI calculator here puts $4.11 in 2008 at $4.94  . . .  already IN 2020.

We are mostly certainly paying the highest prices ever for gasoline.

Be happy, right? At least we're not Hong Kong.

Scott Greer is correct: Sessions endorsed Trump in February 2016 while the pack of weasels led by Rush Limbaugh was still all-in for Ted Cruz in March

Sessions' endorsement in February meant Trump had more Senate support than either Ted Cruz or Bernie Sanders at the time. With Jeb Bush throwing in the towel also in February, the entire establishment GOP was melting down so bad over Trump that many establishment Republicans saw Cruz as the only way to stop Trump and possibly throw the nomination into a brokered convention.

No one, by the way, gaslights better than they do.  It's the secret of their success.

Trump gaslights on New Mexico border "wall", which is bollard fencing replacing existing vehicle barrier, funded in 2017

Trump isn't building new wall like he promised made of concrete, he's just replacing existing barrier with bollard fencing.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- President Trump tweeted about the completion of a "powerful wall" in New Mexico. The steel wall was built in Santa Teresa. It replaced fencing that was used to prevent vehicles from crossing. According to the Washington Examiner, the money for the project came from the congressional budget in May 2017. The Washington Examiner reports the barriers are 18 to 30 feet high.

Drudge joins Trump in gaslighting on The Wall, shows picture of a wall but not the levee fence mentioned in the story

From the news release by US Customs and Border Protection last November:

This project includes the construction and installation of tactical infrastructure including a reinforced concrete levee wall to the height of the existing levee, 18-foot tall steel bollards installed on top of the concrete wall, and vegetation removal along a 150-foot enforcement zone throughout the approximately eight miles of levee wall system.  The levee wall system will include detection technology, lighting, video surveillance, and an all-weather patrol road parallel to the levee wall.

Rush Limbaugh, The Gauleiter for The Gaslighter repeats that the wall is being built

More gaslighting: Trump's greatest economy ever is now in its 222nd month of a secular bear market

Trump is gaslighting his supporters about wall "being built" and Limbaugh is his talk radio Gauleiter

Ford, Dems, media manipulate the public, say she agrees to meet (next Thursday when the deal was Monday)

Grassley's Twitter feed has nothing about this.

Ford says she agrees to meet next Thursday, that's all, and wants to continue the "negotiations" this afternoon.

Total bull!

When Grassley says No they'll attack him again.

Josh Brown thinks you're an Unreachable if you think staging a week long funeral to bash the president is in bad taste

Here, where he amusingly warns about joining a tribe, a tribe! without even realizing it:

Ask yourself whether or not you [yes, YOU] might be an Unreachable in some regard. Are there some beliefs you’ve taken on because they’re of use to you in some social setting or circumstance – beliefs that may not be completely grounded in fact? Are you, in your own way, an Unreachable in the eyes of someone else? Have you affiliated with a tribe of your own, whether out of convenience or for professional purposes, without even having realized it?

A Democrat is troubled by the FBI's excuses for Hillary's crimes

But I sense a bigger problem on the Democratic side, both among ordinary Democrats and prominent left-leaning pundits. In the Trump era, many seem unable to grasp irony and facts as it applies to their own side. For instance, when they talk about Trump violating the rule of law or obstructing justice, don’t they realize that some of us are thinking: Yes, but where were you when the FBI didn’t apply the rule of law to Hillary Clinton, and why didn’t you object when Hillary obstructed justice by deleting emails under subpoena? Shouldn’t the rule of law apply to everyone?
